help us communicate better please

[Skipping long explanations ..]
I use Apple's FaceTime (on a laptop) with a Deaf man, who has voice-to-text captions on FaceTime at his end, with lipreading, to understand what i say. But his speech is really hard for me to understand (and sadly I don't know ASL .. starting to learn). What tech could we add so he can communicate better with me?

Do we need to just use texting? That loses the face to face feeling, as FaceTime and texting don't fit well.
Thanks for any ideas

Longstanding Hummer - abandoned/stolen?

Update: as suggested I called the local cop shop and reported it, so if it was stolen the owner has a chance to have it back (and if it wasn't stolen, a hummer owner can probably afford the tow fee)

There's a hummer been sitting* on a quiet street near me for quite a while, six or eight weeks, maybe more, without moving. It's not in anyone's way but I'm wondering what the right thing to do is. Santa Cruz has (I think) a 72-hour restriction on street parking, so reporting the hummer might get it towed, which I wouldn't want to cause: unless it has actually been stolen or abandoned, having it towed could make problems for its owner. But ofc if it has been stolen and abandoned then reporting it could be good.

My car is often left in the same spot for much more than the legal three days; it'd be a major pain if someone had it towed, so I'm sympathetic to the hummer's owner letting their car ("car" lol) sit.

Opinions and advice?

* A pebble I put on top of one of the hummer's tires is still there weeks later

Are any plans for the circles development visible somewhere?

Driving past today (first time in months) there are odd wood structures going up. Looks like a circle being constructed, around the center of the lot, with the wooden walls curved vertically as well as horizontally, so each section looks almost like the side of a big barrel lying on its side.

I should probably go get a photo to share and then ask, but time is fleeting so here i am just asking ..

Asian Rose tempeh lala - anyone know the recipe?

My family and I miss the Asian Rose! Today we were reminiscing about the food there and especially missing their tempeh lala. My vegetarian granddaughter is visiting, so does anyone know how to make tempeh lala? If not a recipe, then even approximate ideas would be welcome so I can try to make some for her.
