2 mths post op / 3 wks out of sling / PT

Hi all,

As the title says, I'm 2 months post op from a full rotator cuff repair. I'm 3 weeks out of my sling. My insurance is horrible and they're only laying for 4 more appointments... Despite having maxed my out of pocket.

I'm 39, have almost full passive ROM and ~80% active ROM

Anyway, how long were you all in PT? My thoughts are I'll pay out of pocket until I have fully restored active ROM, and then strength train with bands at the gym.

I'm struggling to do the bands at home. But, I have been doing all of my isos and stretches.

Intrusive vs Impulsive Thoughts

It always cracks me up when people talk about how they let their intrusive thoughts win...and the thought is eating an extra cupcake.

Meanwhile, I'm driving to Walgreens to pick up my medicine, and think it would be super easy just to drive straight through the double doors

Or, driving down the highway and, "Huh, I wonder how much air I would get if I bounced over the median"*

Anyway, listening to Girl In Red - Serotonin and it got me thinking

*I am not going to do any of those things, I have no desire to do those things. Just annoying intrusive thoughts.

Proper sling and abduction pillow fit?

EDIT : Based on your feedback I've updated the position. I can't arrange a ride to Ortho until tomorrow. Thanks for all the tips and I'm horribly disappointed in the pre and post op education from my doctor.

updated position

36 hours post op... Dr didn't show me how to fit my sling or pillow. I came home with it this way. If it's universal, why is the ball in the back?

  1. Left full thickness tear
    2. Calcific tendinitis of left shoulder

Today is the day and I'm as prepared as I'll ever be: I've got my recliner setup, Breg Polar Care, Wedge Pillow for when I can get off the recliner.

39 y/o male - in good shape otherwise... This subreddit has been incredibly helpful. See ya'll in a few days! Highly doubt I'll be on reddit for a bit :D
