Localized patches after vacation: Overwatering, black layer, or fungus?

Hey everyone,

I just got back from vacation and left the lawn on an automatic irrigation schedule. Upon returning, I noticed these localized patches appearing (see attached photos) and I'm trying to figure out the exact cause to fix it.

I have a couple of theories, but I'd love to get your expert opinion:

Overwatering / Black Layer: I suspect the irrigation might have been overkill, leading to soil compaction, lack of oxygen, and potentially the start of some anaerobic black layer conditions / root rot.

Fungus: On the other hand, the combination of summer heat and constant moisture makes me worry it could be a fungal disease (like brown patch or similar).

What do you guys think looking at the pictures? Does this look like suffocation from overwatering, or does it have the hallmarks of a fungus?

Any advice on diagnostics or next steps to recover these areas would be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

[Turf Disease ID] Turf turning dark purple/black. Need help with diagnosis.

Hi everyone, I've noticed a recent issue on the turf that I need help diagnosing.

Individual grass blades are turning dark purple and then black. It's not a general chemical burn.

Here are the details:

Symptoms: Dark purple/lilac areas that become black on the blades. Also, in some areas, it forms patches that look like it lacks watering/irrigation.

Turf type: Football pitch (low-cut turf).

My suspicion: I suspect some type of fungal disease, possibly Helminthosporium (Leaf Spot), but I want to confirm.

Request:

Can you help me identify this based on the photos? What type of fungus do you think it is?

Any recommendations for management or effective treatment?

I'm attaching macro photos taken today. Thanks in advance for the help!

[Help] Shredded tips and leaf lesions (High altitude pitch)

Hi everyone, looking for advice on these symptoms:

Symptoms: Shredded/white tips and necrotic lesions on the leaf blades (see photos).

Environment: Pyrenees (high altitude), heavy morning dew.

Mower: Dennis reel mower.

Is this just dull blades (mechanical stress) or an early fungus like Dollar Spot? Should I apply fungicide or just sharpen and add some nitrogen?

Thanks!
