[CRITICAL BUG]: Progress Deleted

[CRITICAL BUG]: Progress Deleted

When I marked the latest episode of Ted Lasso, S04E02, as watched from the Up Next tab, all of my progress for the show was suddenly lost.

All of my watch dates were deleted, and instead of marking episode 02 of Season 4 as watched, the app marked S01E01 as watched.

I haven't tested this with other shows because I don't want to risk losing more of my progress. It's really discouraging to encounter a bug that can delete user data like this.

[BUG]: Progress issues with some TV shows

I'm having issues with the progress of some shows. For example, Bleach keeps disappearing and reappearing from the Up Next tab. When it appears, it shows 400/400 episodes watched, even though I have 2 episodes pending.

The show is also incorrectly listed under Up to Date in My Shows, when it should be under Watched Recently.

This happens with other shows too, although slightly differently. Some shows that are up to date appear under Haven't Watched in a While instead of Up to Date.

I'm using the latest Android version. I've tried refreshing the data, clearing the cache, and reinstalling the app, but nothing fixed the issue.

Bug: Calendar

Every time I set the calendar range to “All,” it resets to the year 1973, and sometimes the “Today” option doesn't work.

Request/Suggestion: Prioritize New Seasons in Up Next

Would it be possible to add an option to prioritize season premieres in the Up Next section?

I know there's already a New Episodes sorting option, but I personally prefer using Last Watched. The problem is that when a new season is released, the show often ends up in the "Haven't watched in a while" section because I haven't watched it recently.

It would be great to have an option like "Prioritize new season premieres", so shows with a newly released season would automatically move to the top of the list, even when sorting by Last Watched.

Suggestions for the Statistics Tab

First of all, I really like the Statistics tab! I have a few ideas that I think could make it even more useful

It would be nice to have separate tabs for Movies and TV Shows instead of a single combined view. Since they are very different types of content, separating their statistics would make the information easier to explore.

Another useful addition would be the ability to hide statistics that the user isn't interested in. Not every statistic is relevant to everyone, so having some customization would help keep the page cleaner.

Some statistics that could be added include:

  • Watching streak (consecutive days watched)
  • GitHub-style activity heatmap
  • Longest binge (most episodes watched in a single day)
  • Number of rewatches
  • Completed TV shows
  • Currently watching TV shows
  • Dropped TV shows
  • On Hold TV shows
  • Completed seasons
  • Episodes left to finish all tracked TV shows
  • Time left to finish all tracked TV shows

Feedback: Rewatch System

At the moment, I don't mark any movies or TV shows as rewatched because I don't want to lose the original dates when I first watched them.

It would be great if Sofa Time could display all rewatch dates and also allow users to edit them. That way, users could keep track of every rewatch without losing their original watch history.

Another thing I noticed is that when I start a rewatch for a TV show, all episodes are marked as unwatched, and they're temporarily removed from my statistics until I finish the rewatch. Personally, I don't think that's the ideal behavior. If I'm rewatching a series, the episodes should still count as watched in my statistics, since I've already seen them before.

I think the rewatch system could be improved to better preserve watch history while making rewatches easier to track.

Cloud Sync Issues

I haven't been able to sync my data with the Sofa Time cloud for the past two days. It keeps loading and always ends with this error, as shown in the video.

Question About Similar Titles

How are the Similar Titles recommendations generated for movies and TV shows? Are they based on keywords, genres, cast, or something else?

At the moment, some of the recommendations seem a bit random. For example, in the attached image, these three recommendations don't seem to have much in common with House of the Dragon.

View and Edit Rewatch Dates

It would be really useful to be able to view and edit the dates of my movie and episode rewatches.

Bug: Progress Bar Disappears

I've noticed that the colored progress bar disappears for TV shows that are marked as Favorites. This happens in the My TV Shows tab.

Suggestion: Simplify the Sorting Options

Currently, each sorting option has both an ascending and descending version, which makes the sorting menu quite long. On smaller devices, the menu can take up almost the entire screen, and some sorting options may not even be visible without scrolling.

Would it be possible to display each sorting option only once and have Ascending and Descending as separate controls?

For sorting options that don't support ordering, such as Random, the order controls could simply be disabled.

I think this could make the sorting menu a little cleaner and easier to navigate.

Some Bugs With Lists

I've noticed a couple of issues with Lists.

When I select multiple TV shows or movies and try to add them to a list, it always fails after I click "Add to a List."

Another issue is that the "Reorder Items" feature sometimes doesn't work properly and fails to save the custom order.

One last thing, this isn't a bug, just a suggestion: it would be nice if Personal Lists could have custom covers, either using the poster of a movie or TV show, or by uploading a custom image.

Suggestion: Calendar Improvements

Would it be possible to add some kind of year indicator to the Calendar tab?

I think this would be especially useful for shows and movies that are scheduled to premiere in a future year. For example, a visual separator between years (blue in the image), or displaying the year next to dates that belong to a future year (red in the image), could make the calendar much easier to read.

Another suggestion: would it be possible to move the 30d / 90d / All filters to the top of the page, next to the filter icon? That would save some screen space and make the layout a bit cleaner.

Rating System

Until a few days ago, this section displayed ratings from several different rating aggregators, but now it only shows the TMDb rating. Is this a bug?

I really liked having ratings from multiple sources, as it was a very useful feature.

P.S. It would also be great to include the average rating from Sofa Time users as well.

Tip: Separate "On Hold" and "Dropped" TV Shows into Different Lists

Personally, I don't like how On Hold and Dropped TV shows are grouped together under a single Archived TV Shows section, since they represent different statuses.

The workaround I found was to create and save two custom filters.

Simply go to Lists → Archived → TV Shows, change the Status filter from Any to Dropped, and save the filter with whatever name you prefer. Then repeat the same process using On Hold instead of Dropped.

This way, you'll have separate lists for Dropped and On Hold shows without having to browse through everything in the Archived section.

Comments can't be opened from the profile's comments tab

When I try to open a comment from the Comments tab on my profile, the comment buttons don't respond, so I'm unable to open the comment. The issue is demonstrated in the attached video.

u/andr3p1 — 1 month ago

Suggestion: Comment Date Format

Now that it's possible to import comments from TV Time, many TV shows and Movies are receiving older comments, and their timestamps are displayed in weeks.

I don't think it's very intuitive to see that a comment was posted 441 weeks ago. For older comments, it would be better to display the exact date, or at least a combination of weeks, months, and years instead of showing everything in weeks.

Inconsistent Release Dates and Time Zones

I noticed that the release dates and times seem to be inconsistent across the app.

For example, every show in the Upcoming section is displayed with the same release time (21:00 or 9:00 PM), and in some cases the release date doesn't match the one shown in the Calendar section. The series page can also display a different date for the same episode.

As a result, it's possible to find three different release dates/times for the exact same episode, depending on where you look.

I also think the Calendar time zone conversion may not be working correctly. Some episodes appear to be several hours earlier than expected, while others are shown later than they should be.
