Quick background: started climbing in mid 30s, tried out BPump when I was just starting out
After roughly 1.5 year of regular climbing at my home gym, was fun to revisit Tokyo and benchmark my progress. Was kinda sad I couldn’t get any 3 Kyu but they all felt kinda out of reach.
It also really made me feel how massive the gap between BPump and most other gyms is though.
The quality of movement, flexibility, coordination, strength, footwork etc that BPump demands of you at all levels is so different from all gyms I have acess to, it’s really not surprising it puts out so many world champions.
Looking forward to coming back again next year. Highly recommend anyone who goes to Tokyo to make the trip to ogikubo
Back in Japan and decided to do an entire trip with only one lens (SG Image 35mm) and baked in LUTs.
The rationale behind that lens was that I needed something small, compact, convenient but wide enough to cover most scenarios and fast enough for night use. I was a bit hesitant between this and the Sigma 45 but honestly find 45 a bit tight for being the only choice. Today, by accident, I found that focus ring crop zoom works with the SG Image too so that was a nice surprise.
As for baked in luts for the whole trip... No idea if I'll regret it, but I really wanted to force myself to get a look in-cam for every scene rather than "figure it out in post". Only one day but been extremely fun so far.
