thoughts on hannah as the show runner?

I’ll be the first to admit that I’ve not been the greatest fan of Rolin’s the past few weeks, but after reading some of the things that Hannah has allegedly advocated for in the script, I’m not sure how to feel now. I had fun with TVL, but it had its problems and now I can see a world where this show could get worse, where I couldn’t before. I don’t know how much is factual and how much is people panicking and being dramatic, so if anyone was at the panel or has some quotes from other interviews that might reveal some insight in the direction she wants to take s4, I’d love to hear.

What’s the general consensus on her here, positive or negative? I haven’t gotten to watch much from the panel, but just heard about Rolin stepping down & the renewal!

thoughts on s3 Devil's Minion overall?

I'm super curious to know how most people felt about the plot lines surrounding Daniel & Armand, because I feel really let down by how they chose to go about everything Devil's Minion related in this season. I know it's not the Devil's Minion show, but there are so many pivotal and important moments that are just stated plainly like they aren't important at all?? Everything felt weird :/ Even Daniel & Armand as characters were so off to me. I've been looking forward to these reveals for so long, and I feel like I didn't even get them by how underwhelmed I am.

I'm really hoping we still get past DM, but I'm starting to lose my trust in the writers :/ idk

anyone else struggling with their feelings surrounding this season?

I’ve been withholding any strong opinions until I was able to see the finale, but now that I’ve finally watched it, I feel so conflicted & confused. On one hand, I want to love this season. I love Lestat, I love the book, I loved the music. There are just so many baffling writing choices that I don’t understand, and that has left me in some state of grief tbh. I feel sad that it’s come to an end and sad for what could have been.

Do I think it’s a horrible season? Of course not. There is beautiful artistry in the sets and costuming, the acting is INCREDIBLE, the music is done well & makes so much sense for telling Lestat’s story, and so on. I appreciate so much of what they’ve done, but I am still feeling disappointed.

I kind of knew in episode two when the wolf killing scene was glazed over that this was not going the direction I had hoped for, but I tried to keep an open mind. Now that the season is over, I am truly confused by the things they’ve chosen to focus on.

The “tell not show” approach this season pissed me off so bad, especially when it came to Daniel/Armand. I have no idea what they’re doing with that dynamic anymore, Daniel has become such an uninteresting character to me, and I’m not even sure why show-only audiences would root for them when they had three scenes that went “i hate you” “daniel i love you“ ”let’s ruin lestat together“ -> all the sudden “we’re companions.” Also, my biggest fear this season was how they‘d characterize Armand, as Rolin seems to hate him, and I was indeed correct that they use him as a scapegoat for any shock value. But If they wanted to show Armand’s evil, why skim over everything with him and Nicki in Paris? Why not keep everything with him and Lestat before the trial? Why add this scene of him torturing Louis of all people for an apology and claim he never loved him? Lestat and Armand’s dynamic also suffered from this, as we’re told by marius, nicki and louis that Armand & Lestat were together, but I see no evidence that Lestat cares for Armand at all? Instead, we center the story around Gabrielle, who is one of the only female characters in the show, and also one of the least compelling :/

The dialogue is also just so strange at times, and the blatant racism played for jokes puts a bad taste in my mouth. I can excuse the weird appeal to gen-z coming from Lestat bc he is like that in the book a bit, but from Armand it makes no sense, and Daniel is a highly successful journalist who he sounds like he didn’t publish anything but buzzfeed articles in 2016. I just don’t get it.

It feels like a slap in the face that Rolin carried this book around, acted like he knew it cover to cover, and disrespected the majority of the characters. Even Lestat feels off to me (I can’t put my finger on it, so if anyone else has that feeling lmk), and from what I’m hearing, anything of actual substance we got from the book is because Sam Reid advocated for it heavily. Thank god he loves Lestat & the books as much as anyone, because who knows what we would’ve ended up with otherwise.

Maybe I just need time to accept this is what we got, but right now I just feel kind of sad :/

TLDR; I don’t know how to feel about this season, I want to love it, but I’m very conflicted by weird writing choices.

Was Marius the painter of the Amadeo painting in the Louvre?

I have been diving into the Armand's history and reading some analyses on the painting that Armand shows Louis in season two, but it seems there is no consensus on who the painter is! I was under the impression that it was Palma Vecchio, and that Marius was commissioned it using Armand as the model. I have seen many people say otherwise and that Marius is the painter. I've watched the scene a few times, but Armand's wording is a bit confusing haha.

does anyone have a good explanation as for why they are speeding through the backstory parts?

let me say, i am enjoying the season, and this is just coming from a place of frustration as a book lover! i’ll form a full opinion once the season concludes. but right now, i just wish they’d dig deeper into the flashbacks.

i know lestat is not as open as louis, and his narration in the books is very different. but i’m losing faith in that being the reasoning as to why we‘re barely touching on the stuff in france. i’m just not under the impression we’re going to revisit anything we’ve seen so far, and it’s a little disappointing. (maybe im wrong!! but it just seems like it’d be silly to go back for a third time and fill in the gaps). i guess i just don’t understand why they’d rename the entire season just for it to be such a loose adaptation. they’re trying to squeeze so much into a few minutes. and i know this is an unpopular opinion, but i felt that reading claudia’s diary entry over lestat’s turning was not a good choice :/ that’s a whole other thing though lol.

if anyone has any thoughts, i’d love to hear it!

tldr: this is not coming from any place of hatred, i‘m genuinely just curious if there’s any evidence as to why the flashback sequences are so condensed, as the crew seemed very excited to adapt the book & most of the book is flashbacks.

are there people who have seen all 6 eps that actually have loved them? (no spoilers pls)

i’ve been seeing a lot of negativity from screeners, which to be fair is mostly from twitter and i know that’s a hellscape lmao.

but i was just curious if there’s anyone who has seen all episodes and have really loved them! especially book readers bc i already do have things i wish had been done a little different, though i know everything can’t be adapted how i want haha. just the nature of it.

no spoilers & i don’t want any details!! i just wanna know that there are fans that have liked it, because all ive seen are screeners saying how bad it is 😭

also sorry if this is not allowed! i just am starting to get worried instead of excited so i need some positivity haha.
