Help figuring out color and brand of this yarn.

Hello!

I got this yarn at a craft supply swap. I have quite a bit of it but would like to make a sweater with black accents. I am hoping if someone has an idea which yarn or brand of yarn this is, I may be able to find a similar yarn in black. I added a pic with it next to hobbi 8 in one cotton for weight comparison.

Finished crochet spiky balls

I posted about my experience with yarn overs vs unders a few days ago, well I finished the keychains I was making and thought I would share for interested parties. My favorite is the small one but just cause I like the spike ratio on it best.

An interesting science experiment: overs vs unders in single crochet

I had always read that doing yarn over vs yarn under created a different shape of stitch, while I didn't doubt this I am a yarn over person automatically. I find it hard to remind myself to yarn under for amigurumi ( this is the use case that I have seen most people discussing this). Well I had to make some spheres for a project and decided it was the perfect time to experiment. I made both with the same yarn and hook the only thing I changed was yarn overing and yarn undering. I was very surprised at the textural difference, the yarn overs were smoother, the yarn unders were cute little cubes or pyramids. The overs were also looser/ had less built in structure.

I had also heard yarn undering uses less yarn. To test this I weighed both of these and measured both of my tails so they were the same. Mine were the same but it may be because of faulty scale/ small size to where it would be a fraction of a gram in this case both spheres were 9 grams.

Tldr: I made one sphere with yarn overs and one with yarn unders and these were the results.

Bonus game: first photo is without labels second is with labels :)

I just wanted to share with others who may have wondered some of the differences! Also please excuse the pet hair!
