Let’s tax second homes and ranches at a rate higher than residents and institute a sin tax.

I think we should tax secondary homes and ranches at a higher rate. We should also have a small sin tax on things like casinos, liquor store, marijuana shops, fast food and on junk food in grocery store. We should then give the money back to the full time residents making less then 60,000$ a year as a small UBI around like 300-400 monthly.

Conservatives taxing people out of Montana

not an original thought but republicans refuse to actually fund things at the state level and keep cutting spending. This is causing across the board in cities conservative like billing’s to liberal like Missoula raises in taxes. I fear this isn’t sustainable and we are starting to actually tax people out of Montana and this will have a negative impact on the state economy eventually. I’m not a fan of democrats but let’s admit republicans have failed. I think we need a reset in the two parties running Montana and to maybe even give third parties a shot beyond just libertarians. idk I don’t have the answers thank.

Less bars and casinos would be nice.

I will get down voted I imagine heavily for this take. That said I think it would be nice if Missoula had fewer bars and casino. we limited the number of dispensaries in town despite being a way less dangerous and safer form of recreation. Yet we allow casinos and alcohol to continue. I’m not anti alcohol I just think they deserve a similar outcome.

Raise the minimum wage and reject Data centers

I think that we should put out a call for the state minimum wage to be raised to 19 per hour and to say no to data Centers. if any local or state politician doesn’t support these two things they don’t get are vote. Even better we campaign against them.

Temporary safe outdoor housing

I just heard that Hope Rescue Mission is transitioning out of helping with the tso housing. This got me to wondering what Missoula is really doing to help with the housing crisis. the zoning changes and other small moves help but are not nearly enough. I think people need to call on the city council to do more. We need to put pressure on all montana politicians cause it’s hitting a crisis point imo.

Staffing shortages and jobs going unfilled

I’ll keep this brief. I see a far amount of jobs that go unfulfilled for weeks locally in Missoula.I feel like if they just increased pay to even just 19-20 per hour they wouldn’t have these problem. paying only like 16-18 per hour won’t cut it anymore in most of Montana. Just a random though.
