Learn or Jump In

I'm a 29M who wants to start a business regarding senior citizen home care. I have an uncle who happens to own multiple, successful senior citizen facilities and does very well for himself.

Do you suggest I work for him to learn the business? Or take the leap of faith and start my own company? If I were going to take the leap of faith and jump in, I am looking to franchise.

I have never owned a business or have had any training in the business world.

Any and every recommendation, comment, advice, or piece of criticism is appreciated! Thank you.

Am I Crazy

I know this may sound absolutely crazy, but here it goes.

29M GP here. 2nd year of practice. Thinking of going down to 1-2 days per week as a part-time GP and allocating the rest of the work week to starting a business outside of dentistry. Been looking at franchising a senior care service, home services, junk removal, or something else.

Feeling a ton of emotions about this endeavor but I realized that I do not want to own a dental practice nor do I want to work as an associate 4-5 days per week.

I feel somewhat shameful because my friends and family are always praising me for being a dentist and tell me how good I have it. I am grateful for dentistry and what it's allowed me to have in my life, but I feel like there's so much more out there.

So the plan is take a 1-2 month break completely from dentistry then find a part-time job to pay the bills and allocate the rest of my time building a business outside of dentistry.

Taking a leap of faith here, but any and every honest thought, recommendation, piece of criticism is welcome.

Dentist Looking To Start Business

I'm a 29 year old dentist looking to start a business outside of dentistry and am seeking some advice from those more experienced!

I'm planning to cut down on dentistry to 1-2 days/week for various reasons and am thinking about starting a business. Franchising is looking more attractive to me rather starting my own. The reasons I am going this route is to be able to grow something that may be able to make money without me being in the trenches of the business. I accept that the first couple of years I will be boots on the ground and working tirelessly which is ok with me. I've come to realize that as a dentist, I am only making money when I am in the office doing procedures.

Business ideas I've had are home services (garage door repair, epoxy flooring), cleaning services, senior day care services, etc.

Additionally, I have no children at this point of my life and my fixed expenses are fairly low so I figured this would be the point of my life to attempt this endeaveur.

After Ceramic Coat Worn Away

If I get a ceramic coat on my truck, does that mean I need to get it re-coated every couple of years?

I’m the System X Pro done and the shop says it may last between 4-6 years ; but I’m wondering what will happen after that time.

Thank you!

Temp Compensation

In yalls opinion/experience, as a temp dentist - what is a reasonable compensation? What would be considered low and what would be considered well-paying?

Currently practicing in North FL.

Need grown men advice if you don’t mind.

Im a 29M. My best friend’s Dad, who I’ve known my whole life, owns a kayak shop in town and is a fishing guide. I’ve talked to him about buying a kayak because I want to get into the sport/hobby.

He told me he’d take me out kayak fishing next week to try out kayaks and see what I like which is really nice of him.

Do I pay him?

I know its alot for him for take me out and he’s having someone man the shop while we’re out fishing and I somewhat feel bad or feel like I owe him.

I’ve never been good at money like this so any advice will help!
