Frequency of MALS symptoms
Hi all, I recently learned of MALS and plan on bringing it up to my gastroenterologist because the symptoms seem very similar to what I have been experiencing. My question is though, is it possible or common to only have occasional flare-up? I have had three “episodes” of horrible MALS-like pain within the past year and a half, one of which I went to the ER for. I have gotten a gastric emptying study (though it was tested with ensure as opposed to food which I thought was strange), multiple ultrasounds, many blood tests (including LFTs, pancreatic enzymes, and lipase), and stool testing that has ruled out pretty any other explanation thus far. I also have POTS and other venous issues including CVI that I recently received venous ablations for.
TLDR, does MALS typically present as occasional flare-ups that subside after several hours (typically around 8) or is it a chronic (aka more frequent) issue?
(Not seeking diagnosis or medical advice, just curious others’ experiences since I only just learned of MALS)
