Help identifying a thalamic nuclei

First time posting in this sub so I hope this is an appropriate question. I included the Allen Brain atlas image I feel is closest to the imaged slice as reference. I'm hoping there are some thalamic people in this sub! (original content)

Is Mario’s full name “Mario Mario” since “Mario brothers” implies Mario is the last name?

My 3yo has been obsessed w the original mario movie. And tonight something dawned on: Is Mario’s first name Mario? Or is the general public referring to him as his last name? Is Luigi’s full name “Luigi Mario”? If so, what is Mario’s first name? As a millennial, Did I miss the lore of the names? Because “Mario brothers” implies that Mario is the last name

Please give me cover ideas 😭

I have this god awful tattoo this is actually a coverup of a much worse version. I got it when I was 18 and honestly haven’t cared until recently because the more it fades, the more shit it gets. My regular guy is suggesting a woman’s face that extends down my side with her hair flowing but that is just not my vibe.

My tattoos: three birds , a giant DNA strand as a tree with a Darwin fish in the middle that covers my opposite side , a big rose on my shoulder blade, my bearded dragon resting on a branch on the inside of my upper and arm and then just a bunch of little things like a drawing my son did , a matching piece w my sister, my cats paw print and her silhouette.

I actually hate color and this is the only Piece with color. My guy also said whatever we did would be super dark with contrasts , which I’m fine with.

Willing to take any and all options!

Also, be kind, I am very aware how shit it is 🥲

Today’s sleep attack sucks

I’ve had a really good two weeks so I kind of knew a sleep attack was on the horizon. But I’m in the middle of writing a grant on a time crunch and I keep falling asleep at my desk. My whole body hurts. I’m already over 30mg adderall + 2 (intentional) 20 min naps + a large coffee. I’m doing my dang best to fight this. Wish me luck 🫡

How do you explain what "cataplexy feels like" when someone asks? Here's mine:

I say "have you ever tried to punch someone in your dream? Or try to run in your dream? And you can't because there's a feeling of zero muscle strength behind the action?" To me, that's exactly what my cataplexy feels like lol triggered by overexcitement, excited anticipation, or excessive laughter.

How often do you see your narcolepsy doctor?

I see mine every 4-6 months. It’s always the same convo. How are my symptoms, am I ready to start oxybates. I say no, we discuss my management, and then I leave. Like clockwork lol maybe it’s so often until he feels I’m managed? I said today “so I’ll see you in a year??” to see if I could get away with it. My next appointment is 6 months lol (idk what flare to use , sorry!)

Narcolepsy vs ketamine

A friend of mine is describing what ketamine and a k-hole is like. The whole time I’m thinking “that’s just narcolepsy” lol can anyone confirm or deny my assumption?

Here are exact words:

“It’s a dissociative so it def feels like you’re kind of “stuck” somewhere. I’ve had a situation where I was opening doors into the same room once. Or sometimes I’ll feel like I’m in between neighboring dimensions but all in the same exact point and I can see thru all of them”

Sounds like me when I’m stuck in REM and my 3 year old is trying to talk to me lol

Graph paper notebook recs

Like everyone here, I absolutely love notebooks! One thing that drives me crazy though is how many are wide-ruled. My brain strongly prefers graph paper. Most of my class notes go into graph-paper spiral notebooks, I use graph-lined index cards, and now I’m looking to add some graph-paper notebooks to my growing collection.

I’m also super excited to have found this sub because my husband is convinced that nobody needs as many notebooks as I own. He’s come to accept that buying notebooks simply because they’re beautiful and make me happy is a valid hobby lol (I have the same issue with baskets).

If you’re still reading this, I’m curious whether there’s a general overlap between notebook people and people who get excited about the school supply aisle. Because I can’t walk past one without stopping. Please tell me I’m among my people here!

Anyway, I’d love some recommendations for high-quality graph paper notebooks. What are your favorites?

What do your ADA work accommodations look like?

And how was the process to get said accommodations? Do they play out in everyday life as you expected?

If I send a package from USA to Japan, do I put the address in English or Japanese?

If in English, the Japanese mailman won’t be able to read it and vice versa

what is your regimen?

I'm struggling right now and know I need different methods of management. Everyone manages so differently, so I'm wondering what your medication management is , and what you do different when you're struggling through an attack?

Currently, I only take adderal. I bedshare with my son so nighttime meds aren't an option right now. I recently tried wakix but it made me really sick (severe migraines, brain fog, and excessive sleepiness from the migraine attacks). I think I'm struggling these past few days as a result of the wakix side effects, and even though i stopped taking it yesterday, I think I'm probably experiencing residual effects.

Did anyone else have a similar experience with Wakix? How long until the negative side effects subsided?
