Do I need to get a cover up? Don’t want to be associated with nazis

Hello, I recently got a matching tattoo with two of my friends to celebrate our friendship. We chose the design from the artists flash book. My uncle recently pointed out that my tattoo looks similar to the nazi “death head”. 😓 Very unintentional and very disappointed! What do you guys think? Is it too similar where I have to get a cover up? I don’t want to be associated with that at all

how do i heal this properly?

first session. i have tons of tattoos but this one is sooooooo itchy. and its itchy like no other tattoo i have. is that normal? i wash it daily and moisturize multiple times a day but sometimes the moisturizer makes it itchier. (the moisturizer is unscented lotion btw) im so scared for when i get the shading too and that has to heal

advice

tattoo is supposed to be a louis vuitton cherry blossom mixture type thing and it’s a tribute to my buddy who passed. he had the original tattoo design and i went to his artist and asked for the same with a couple changes, only wording. This is the unfinished product after 6 hours of work. Shaky lines, lines with no purpose, and honestly not a lot of work done. I will show the original tattoo and show mine. Let me know what yall think trust the process, go to another guy? idk what to do. I know i want to do my own type of thing so im not gonna add any color besides what i already have just black and greys.

The lettering at the bottom says “Bay” or well it’s supposed to along with the non filled in lettering near the middle that also says Bay

I've wanted this tattoo for a long time (would be my first). I've heard warnings against signatures. What are your thoughts on this?

For years and years I've wanted a tattoo of Abraham Lincoln's signature. I have no other tattoos. I have heard concerns about signature tattoos before, with them blowing out sometimes. But to my uneducated and inexperienced eyes, his signature was crude enough and things are spaced enough it might be okay? What are your thoughts, those of you more familiar with script tattoos?

Any advice on what’s gone wrong? Black tattoo is red and faded the next day.

I have 3 existing tattoos that have healed well with black ink and got a 4th yesterday.

When the tattoo was completed yesterday it looked really good and how I’d expect it to look (3rd photo). I woke up this morning and it looked a bit red and faded but just put this down to having a second skin on, as tattoos can be distorted when the skin is on. The artist advised me to remove the second skin, after I sent him a photo of it and I could then see just how faded and red it actually was.

I’m really confused/ concerned about how it’s healing and have no idea how it’s happened. The artist is from a reputable studio and he’s done a tattoo before which has healed well on my arm. When I messaged him he said he did borrow some ink and potentially may have mistaken it for black when it was grey wash. He also offered for me to come back in a week to have it redone.

My instinct is that a week would be too soon, especially as we can’t seem to have figured out what’s caused this so I’d really appreciate and experienced opinion on what’s gone wrong and what the best corrective action would be?

I also work in a garage so have ordered some sterile pads to put over the tattoo so I can continue to work without being scared of it getting infected from oil etc.

Thanks, I appreciate any experienced advice.

Is this design legit?

Artist sent me this as a mockup for my upcoming tattoo and I’m suspicious that it was artificially generated instead of hand drawn. What do you think?

First Tattoo - is this as bad a job as I think it is?

Just wanted a simple wedding band. Artist said she can’t go any further round the finger because the skin stretches. And how hard is it to get the overall lines straight, the outline at the top and bottom is slightly jagged but idk how straight you can make it? Am I being too harsh or do I need to find somewhere else to go back over it?

First Tattoo!

Hello everyone! Hopefully this reaches the tattoo veterans or anyone knowledgeable on pain scale and tattoo places. I'll try to make it as short as I can and try not to ramble, but no promises! Long story short, I need advice. I'm hoping to get a tattoo on my shoulder or my thigh (wrist can work aswell) and I'm leaning towards a thin pisces design with a constellation around.

Problem is, I have an incredibly low pain tolerance. I adore my sibling's and parents tattoos, but knowing me, if I got one, I'd cry like a baby and possibly even quit! I have 3-month-old snake bite piercings on my lip, and I dealt with it surprisingly well, even to my family who knows of my tolerance (even my piercer said I did really good but I digress).

As of right now, I turn 16 in six months and I hope to get a tattoo soon after. The area I live in allows sixteen-year-olds to get tattoos as long as there's parental consent and they're at the appointment, so no worries about that. But I need advice. What's the best area for this tattoo? Did your first tattoo hurt alot? (Top picture is what I'm hoping to get but it can be changed. If you have a better design please put the image in or be really descriptive! I'm willing to try almost anything!)

Help 😭🙏

TV show reference tattoos - always a bad idea?

My instinctive answer would be "obviously, what if you stop liking it?!"

I don't really see that happening, as I fell in love with it at 12 and am still collecting any memorabilia I can. I've seen the show in it's entirety 5 times in 6 years and engage with it in some shape or form almost every day.

I want it above my knee, 12cm across and about 2cm tall in FF Trixie (the most recognisable X-Files font) - "I want to believe".

I do want to believe! I've drawn this on with eyeliner a handful of times too - always felt right.

I'm 18 as of April so obviously I haven't fully formed that good old prefrontal cortex. I've had this particular design in mind for about a year, but have always wanted an X-Tat.

I suppose I'm consulting you all as the wise older people you are. Do you have any TV show tattoos and do you regret them? Do we reckon I (try to) put the idea aside for a few years and see if I'm still that keen then?

P.S... A traditional style Scully portrait is on the bucket list too... But that's decades away 😆

Trash or no regerts?

Got this done years ago and while I don’t think some parts of it are perfect I really like the concept and rawness of it. What do you fine people think? Trash or no regerts?

Getting shading touched up soon, what would you change?

Hi all!
I got this tattoo a couple of months ago, and for the most part I like it a lot (this artist has done a couple of pieces for me now and this one is very sentimental). However, she did admit she was having a difficult time translating a fairly complex character design into a readable tattoo, and I am going this weekend to get the shading fixed up somewhat.

Second pic is where I am already planning on having her darken it – I would like to make the highlights in the center to pop a little more by putting some more shadows around the edges of these shapes. Third pic is just so you can see it how I see it (side of thigh).

Since you guys don’t stare at it every day like I do, what jumps out to y’all as something that could be changed without making it muddy/unreadable?

What to do with this guy?

I have a stutter and I used to hide it, never spoke out loud, never initiated convos etc. this past years I finally got over the hump and became social despite the speech difficulties.

So…In order to celebrate that fact I got a cheaply made tattoo and people are constantly asking me about it. I really hate telling that story to people and decided it’s time to cover it up. But I don’t know…. To me it just seems pretty cringy since the guy looks kinda similar to me (which was not my intention lol)

Do you think this is lame? and how long does it take to make a tattoo like this?

I wanna ask what is your opinion about this tattoo and how long would it take for the artist to make do I have to go multiple times etc.? this would be my first tattoo so I have no idea what to expect :)

Is this Tattoo a Hot Mess?

What does everyone think of my tattoo? I’ve always wondered if it’s a bit of a hot mess. I’ve had my sleeve now for some time, started in 2018 and finished it in 2022. Same artist and mainly just visited once a year over 5 years.

I’ve always considered the whole sleeve to be a bit in-cohesive, perhaps this was due to the fact it wasn’t designed as a whole sleeve, just added bits as I went along. Parts of it I love and others not so much.

I’m keen to hear what the experts think, maybe it’s not great or perhaps it’s better than I give it credit for? What are your thought? Happy to hear either good or bad! Thanks.

Is this a bad idea for a first tattoo???

So I’m 24f with no tattoos, who wants to be a heavily tattooed elder

Is belly too tough for the first time? Will the design look ugly in 5 years(either a reputable artist)?

FYI I’m very very indecisive and change my mind all the time at the last minute.

That being said!! I want something VERY similar to if these two pictures had a baby and it was sexy.

I want this tattoo to make me give HOT, SEXY, BADASS vibes.

I have a slender build (90lbs 5’4) with a slight hourglass shape, like the two reference photos.

Do yall think it’ll give hot and sexy?? Especially with no other tattoos…

Thanks and have great day

Edit-

THANK YOU GUYS for the wonderful advice. At the end of the day a lot of you agree this tattoo looks good, but it’s overdone and I won’t like the look of it after a while especially as I age.

Happily reporting I did NOT get the tattoo and I’ll just keep drawing it on with sharpie everyday. I’ll wait until I’ve gained weight (the women in my family ARE BIG but only after kids which I DONT plan on having)

I already had another tattoo appointment that I canceled for an extremely meaningful tree stump in an old fashioned picture frame(pretty simple not crazy detailed at all) because I broke my hand

Decided to go for something I wasn’t attached to as an easier introduction to tattoos

I’m gonna wait until I’m 30 to get any big pieces or belly work done for sure.

I WANT TO LOOK LIKE A SLUT. So it was the goal to have the lines pointing at the cooch
I WANTED ignorant tattoos my WHOLE life but recently decided American traditional on my legs is the way to go. Wanted something sexy on the belly

Not sure how I feel now that my tattoo is shaded.

When I got the lining done I loved my tattoo seeing the design I was so excited. Now that I’ve gotten shading I’m not really a fan of it. My favorite part is only the pomegranate. I asked for lots of stippling type shading (which the artist had in other portfolio pics) should I get the face/chest reworked?

EDIT: It’s the face and chest that’s throwing me other wise I like it a lot!

Does this look like it’s infected?

Hello, I got this tattoo last Thursday and I’m noticing some redness around the spot in this photo. Am I overreacting or should I go to the doctor?

Advice for someone in a very small religious town.

This is day 4 (4th time I’ve ever turned on the machine) I live in a very small, very religious town and we don’t have any tattoo shops near me. So as of right now I’m kind of on my own.

The dragon was day 1, the flower and snake were day 2, the better fake skin was day 3-4.

I would really appreciate any advice, or opinions on what I’ve done so far.
