Cover up advice of tattoo on calf

Cover up advice of tattoo on calf

I got a doodlebob just after high school and I want it covered up. What should I cover it with? I eventually want the whole leg done. Tattoo is located in the center outside portion of my calf.

UPDATE: I guess I’m keeping it since it’s a cardinal sin in this sub to get rid of doodlebob. We’re going sponge half sleeve I need ideas

Is it a good idea to get this octopus tattooed in such small size ?

I know that this designed is meant to be bigger but I am scared that I might regret it in the future or that the colors will blend together and it will get foggy

Is this ugly? or just basic?

Okay so i have a super basic cybersigilism tattoo on both my sides. People ask me “what is that??” or “why’d you get that?”… I feel like maybe the tattoo is ugly and looks bad. I know it’s basic… But is this ugly??

Edit: Thank you all! Even the ones who said it’s ugly, i like seeing the different perspective. I wouldn’t remove it, even if everyone said it’s hideous. But I appreciate the truthful feedback. If anyone wants to let me know how i could extend this? That’s another part i’m stuck on

Tattoos and self acceptance

Over the past two years, I’ve been under constant stress because of my tattoos. It all started when I noticed that a tattoo I’d had done many years ago had aged terribly and was no longer recognizable. So I decided to have it lightened with laser treatments so I could get a cover-up.
The cover-up was done last May, and I was absolutely thrilled with the result, especially after everything I had been through. However, since the beginning of this summer, I’ve started noticing several flaws in the cover-up. Maybe it’s partly my fault because I didn’t take care of it as well as I should have, and now some of the old lines from the previous tattoo are becoming visible again. I’ve already booked a touch-up appointment for this October.
Around the same time last year, I also decided to have my Batman and Joker sleeve reworked. That sleeve has been especially difficult for me to accept. Batman and the rest of the tattoo turned out great, but the Joker changed completely and never liked it. That came as such a shock that I ended up going to therapy because I was ashamed to show it.
For a short period after getting the cover-up, I finally accepted my tattoos and felt happy with them. But over the past few months, I haven’t been able to stop thinking about them. I’m constantly looking at my arms, and whenever I’m around a lot of people, I try to keep them covered.
I constantly compare myself to other people, and I feel like I made the wrong decisions from the very beginning. Sometimes I wish I could erase all my tattoos and start over, even though I know that’s not really possible.
I’ve never been someone with a lot of self-confidence. Even though my friends and family often compliment my tattoos, I can never see what they see, and I struggle to believe their kind words. It’s becoming harder and harder to move forward. My first thought every morning is always about my tattoos, and sometimes I just wish I could sleep so I wouldn’t have to think about them.
I’m not sure whether I’m writing this just to vent or in the hope of finding someone who has been through something similar. Either way, thank you for taking the time to read this.

What can I add to this tattoo to make it look more like a fox?

Hello, this is my first post so I’m sorry if this isn’t the right place for this. I got this tattoo about a year ago as one of my first, it was my fault for asking for it so small. I don’t dislike the tattoo, but feel like it does not really look like a fox? Is there anything I could add to this/ change to make it look a little nicer?

Tattoos are not meant to be perfect?

Been stalking this subreddit for ages, and when looking at some of the post this has repeatedly come to mind. I learned when getting a tattoo from an experienced tattoo artist in Montreal.

He was a guy who liked to do American Traditional tattoos and I asked him for a certain design as a walk in and he sketched this up for me.

After he was done, before I left the table, I noticed a small part of the left wing did not connect after squinting and putting my face about 4 inches from the tattoo.

He jokingly put his face about 1 inch from the tattoo and said “is anyone going to be looking at it like this?”

He also asked if I wanted the red ring around it and I consented so he did it in 1 pass after the main part of the tattoo was done. At first, I didn’t want it when he suggested it, but it gave such a cool raw edge to the tattoo and I’ve gotten many compliments on it.

What I learned from him and another AmTrad artist is that tattoos are not meant to be perfect. In the age of Fine line and Instagram tattoo portfolios, we are looking at tattoos with a microscopic lens, and getting upset when even the is tiniest thing is not perfect.

I do understand it varies for different tattoo styles, but remember guys tattoos are artwork, and no one is going to be as critical of a tiny imperfection as you.

I also attached one of my favorite tattoos that I got on Friday the 13th. I asked my typical guy if he was available, told him what I wanted, and he asked “can I do my thing?” so he freehanded the cloud and lightning and it’s become one of my favorite tattoos.

please guys don’t start feeling existential dread because something you see on your tattoo is not instagram perfect.

What would pair well with this?

Recently got a new tattoo that I’m absolutely in love with. However, I have a couple of small tattoos below it that I feel like just don’t match the vibe for the big beautiful piece I just recently got…. Not in a rush but I’m thinking of maybe getting a cover up…. (picture attached)

The idea/concept I had going for this arm was Mexican/southwestern vibe

What designs/things do you think would pair well with these flowers to stick to that theme I had in mind while looking a bit more cohesive?

Would be idea for a tattoo I've had for awhile be a bad idea?

Hi! So I've never gotten a tattoo before but I'm wondering if something like this would be possible or look good on the skin. I included a couple pictures of the bird I'm talking about later on this post.

I'm thinking about getting a tattoo of this:

- The bird in the pic in a circle like the example

- The bird made out of water instead of being an actual feathered bird

- A semi colon in the middle of the circle also

- Very water like theme

Why?

- I love birds. I'm a bird mom.

- Bird comes from FFXIV which I love playing

- Bird also symbolizes depression at seeing the world has no joy and people are born just to suffer. I also have depression. (For those who never played. She is sent to other worlds to gather data on civilizations outside where she came from. She travels to the end of the universe but only sees destruction, murder, planets dying and she's like: Nah imma destroy all of this and be done with it. (Shes still a baby. Poor kiddo))

- I am a suicide survivor. It's something that I had to overcome quite a few times. I've had honestly a pretty rough life its getting better though.

- I love the water. I feel home when I'm close to the water (yeah im Pisces. I'm very watercoded in my chart. Idk if that's a reason why. lol) I just have a very unexplainable love for water.

Thanks guys. Sorry for the stupid question.

I have a question for people who specifically got spine tattoos and are plus sized

Hi everyone!!

I have a very specific question for people who are plus sized and got a spine tattoo.

So, since I got my first wrist tattoo back in 2021, I have been craving a second tattoo. Which is why I’m here to see what other people think.

I have been thinking about getting a spinal tattoo done, you can see by the pics which one is my back, and which tattoo I’m thinking of getting.

Now the thing is, I’m also trying to loose the weight that I am carrying. For those who were plus sized, got the spine tattoo done, and lost the weight, what do you think? Will getting something like this done make the tattoo look bad when I loose the weight?

Any advice would be appreciated!! Thanks!!

Debating a blast over on my arm

Hi all. Ive been getting tattoos since i was 17. Im 30 now and not the same as I was. Im still into everything but I have a more understanding of who i am. Ive been indifferent to my tattoos on my left arm for a while. I dont hate them but im not super into them either so wanted to change it up a bit without completely getting rid of them cause they are fun, had a good time getting them and at some point, were loved. Was thinking about a doing some blast overs on the top but unsure to be honest. Was wondering what people thought and if youve been in the same situation, how you felt before and after?

is this infected or irritated?

my second time asking here if my tattoo is doing well—it has been but suddenly these tiny bumps (or idk pustules or whiteheads??) started emerging again? it doesn’t feel hot to the touch, isn’t painful nor tender but there’s a slight itch.

for context; in the first few days of my fresh tattoo i had went overboard on A+D ointment (my bad, i know) and pustules also emerged and had been severely irritated but i had spoken to a dermatologist and i was told to wash it with gentle soap, use cetaphil, and an ointment (elica, which i was advised to use for 1-2 weeks) which has totally helped clear up and save the entire tattoo!

now it’s all healed, i’ve stopped the elica as prescribed and currently remained on just washing it with gentle soap (unscented)—now i woke up and noticed that my skin was a little bumpy and i thought it’s just skin texture but now it’s here again 🥲

i’m thinking about observing it for a while or should i just get it checked out already?

my sister told me this tattoo looks like chest hair and now i can’t unsee it

Friend roasted my tattoo, have never fully recovered

I got these forearm rings two years ago. Right after I got it, one of my friends absolutely tore it to pieces, telling me it looked like a five year old did it, told me it was the dumbest thing I could’ve gotten, why didn’t I just get a butterfly or something etc etc etc. (he has no tattoos for context)
Our friendship ended that night because literally what the fuck but ever since then I’ve had the nagging question that maybe it looks terrible to other people. I thought it was well done, the artist was extremely steady and specialized in fine line and geometric and I did a lot of research on finding the artist.
But it was my first tattoo and he was the first one to see it and I deflated so hard right away and I guess I never really bounced back. Also does not help that I’ve struggled with ocd and body dysmorphia my entire life so it’s difficult to trust my own perceptions.
So, idk, what do we think? Does it look like a shitty five year old drawing? Or is he still just living rent free in my head?
