the discourse around evan is truly sad

there has been a lot of posts lately on evan, and instead of feedback on his songs and abilities, i can see that it is hidden as hate.

there are good constructive criticism, but it is heartbreaking that people are exceptionally harsh on him, especially when it doesn’t meet their expectations (it is very high to begin with, which honestly isn’t fair to him).

i hope he finds comfort in his fans, and that he continues to grow as a solo artist 🥹🥹

My Takeaway on Evan’s Solo Debut

*disclaimer: this is more of a nuanced take of everything and my own personal thoughts. i welcome any discussion but also pls be civil if you disagree with anything below. (+english is not my first language so bear with me)

after the hellhole of everything (10th march, debut, performances), i want to give my own thoughts of evan and everything.

i just want to say that it was incredibly admirable for him to take the leap and be a solo artist in such circumstances, especially when the circumstances were, imo, unfortunate (sudden departure, the hate around him and the rest of enha). from his videos and interviews, it really seemed he has a good grasp of what he wants, yet also feelings of uncertainty; and i want to stress that it is okay for him to feel uncertain and anxious, especially since him going solo is daunting and new, not to mention lonely.

now, i’m sure many of you guys have seen the comments on his performances and the struggle for voting. yes, it will be hard since we are up against songs from big names (especially since he is “new”) and that it may seem that a lot of people are turning against him. but think about it: no pre-sale, just streams and yet we have been nominated for a music show win. honestly, that is already an achievement; as some have said before, soloists tend to not be as popular to SK (with some exceptions) and i think not many realise this. he clearly has a strong support base and there are also new fans checking him out. his first week streams were also really good (close to 10M) when a lot of people turned their back on him. i think this performance really speaks volumes.

despite the challenges, i do think his debut is a success. a journey of self-discovery through his music, and wanting us to come along; i think ride or die really marks the starting point of everything he has. yes, it may not always be perfect and some music may not be up to par (might be downvoted for this but let’s be real; self-made things is all about trial and error, and not everything may be perfect); but that’s what evan wants: to be reassure us that no matter what, he reassures us fans that we will be together in this.

i became an ever through his music and performances, and i can’t wait to support him on his journey. EVAN FIGHTING!!!!
