ESUB Spending Question

For anyone on ODSP that has received ESUB before, did your worker ever mention a specific time frame you must spend the ESUB money by, and whether or not you needed to provide receipts?

Is my absolution invalid?

I went to Confession today and got an older Priest who likes to be very creative with the words of absolution, and never said "I absolve you" or "you're forgiven", just moved his hand in a blessing/cross style. I then confronted him gently, asked him to say the words, and he said "I did absolve you".

Is this invalid? I haven't been to Mass yet due to the weather, so when I go tonight, can I safely receive the Eucharist or should I abstain?

Gun Care Advice

Hey all,

I just got my PAL and snagged a gorgeous Benelli Nova 3 HD (used but basically new) for $500, and I have absolutely zero idea what products I need to clean/lubricate this thing.

I looked at some forums but they're all 20+ years old and recommend disconnected products, but I keep seeing "CLP" popping up. What are some good recommendations for cleaning/regular maintenance for this shotgun/in general?

I should mention that I have a Huntshield all-in-one cleaning kit, so bore brushes and mops aren't an issue at the moment, unless there's a specific material I should use/avoid that I need to be aware of?

Thanks!!

Parish Logo Question

Hey Fathers,

I'm trying to brainstorm ways to update my Parish's current logo, and I wanted to hear from some of you who I imagine have already gone through this process (or something similar) with your own Parishes.

In your experience, what are some elements that are essential for a good Parish logo?

For example, do you think an icon of the Parish Saint is essential, do you showcase the Sacraments in some way, Bible imagery/quotes, simplicity over complexity, etc.

God bless!

Annual Mass for the Faithful Departed question

Hi Father(s),

My Archdiocese/Parish is hosting an annual Mass for the Faithful Departed, which takes place at a local Parish run cemetery. I've always been under the impression this is for ALL faithful departed, or at the very least for the deceased loved ones of those who are present.

Well today, I was told essentially that this is solely for those who are buried or in niches at this cemetery, and those that don't have loved ones there shouldn't attend.

If any of you are in a diocese where this annual Mass is said, how do you understand the intentions of such a Mass? Are they only for those buried there, for the deceased loved ones of those in attendance, or for all "faithful departed" in general?

God bless!

Question about Confessing

Hey Father(s)! I'm in need of Absolution, and I don't want to leave anything I ought to say out, but also don't want to say more than I need to.

When it comes to Confessing sexual sins - say pornography or impure actions with ones self, for example - is there anything someone would watch/do/think about that would require them to expand upon that, beyond saying something like, "I've watched pornography X times" or "Impure actions with myself on X many occasions"?

Thanks for your time! God bless.

Caseworker Admits To Using AI

So I finally spoke to my caseworker around her obstinate refusal to give me ESUB support, to try and understand where this "only for launching a business" nonsense comes from, and she literally admitted to using an "internal AI" to summarize Directives and come to a conclusion for her.

This is VERY concerning because, as an "internal AI", this is something unnamed and - as far as anyone outside the office knows - is completely untested, and as such, unreliable. She's not reading short Directives about the language ESUB uses (like "ongoing employment" and "self-employment activities") and instead bases her decision to not support me off of 2 sentences from another Directive (5.4) vaguely referring to Directive 9.1, without ever reading 9.1.

Has anyone else heard of an ODSP Caseworker using AI?

ESUB Help

Has anyone else experienced issues with their caseworker refusing to assist with non-standard self employment expenses like with repairs or upgrades?

I pay for my own monthly expenses through subscription costs, licensing fees, and the like, and I don't expect them to pay for reasonably priced expenses outside of that, but my computer is my livelihood and it's nearing the end of it's life unless I do some necessary hardware upgrades.

Previous caseworkers helped cover the cost of repairs after it broke once, and helped cover the cost of subscription fees and minor upgrades once before, but now that I have a new worker she's outright refusing to help me with a single thing. She thinks a $100 bonus every month helps me cover every single thing from subscription costs, ink/paper costs, licensing fees, unexpected expenses for image or font rights, on top of major hardware upgrades like a CPU, motherboard, RAM, etc.

What can I do about this? Do I speak to her manager?

PDF 1.5 Change

Does anyone know why Canva has decided to change their PDF save version from 1.4 to 1.5? This completely ruined my ability to use Canva for our bulletin, because our publisher is using an older version of Acrobat Pro for compatibility with thousands of businesses across Canada.

Does anyone know of a workaround without manually saving this, taking it into Photoshop or Acrobat Pro, and saving a second time with a different version?
