I just want to start by saying that I’m not looking to get into discussions about any of the accusations (I don’t believe them). I’m more curious about the experience of being a Michael Jackson fan during that period.

As someone who was a kid in the 2000s, most of what I heard about Michael Jackson was that he was the butt of jokes, that he was “weird,” and, of course, there was all the legal coverage. Looking back, I’m really interested in what that time was like for people who were fans of his.

What was it like seeing the way the media covered him? How did you feel about the way fans were portrayed? If you defended him, what was that experience like?

I’m especially curious because I am a fan myself. I listened to his music growing up in the 2000s, but I was really young, so I wasn’t paying close attention to everything that was happening. I didn’t really start learning more about him as a person until after he passed away. I’d love to hear what that era was like from the perspective of people who actually lived through it as fans. 🫶🏼

Budget: Around $1200 for the PC itself

What I’ll use it for:
- Gaming (Elden Ring, Baldur’s Gate 3, Cyberpunk, etc.)

Came across this Remember the Time (E-Smoove’s Late Nite mix) and it got me thinking I never really heard many dance club mixes for Michael’s songs. Did any of you hear any of MJ’s songs in the clubs back in the day or know of any other good mixes of his songs? This one is really great and makes me wish I was alive to club in the 90s in NYC or something 😭
