Is there such thing as a perfect setup?

...I don’t think so.

I’ve been refining my setup over the last few months/years and it’s finally started to stabilise after getting stuck in a loop of continuous tweaks.

I put together a write-up covering where things ended up, including my current Adept + Corne keymaps, and some early thoughts on the Endgame trackball.

Curious if anyone else has ended up with a “final” setup that didn’t stay final for long.

My current daily driver

I'm just gonna leave this here... I have a few trackballs, this one I've been using for a couple years now and I still love it. I used to experiment a bit with the customisations but I've since settled on a pretty minimal mapping now which works for me. In addition to that, I've added a palm rest and a 3d-printed wedge which does make a difference.

I'm a software developer by trade and work closely with designers too so often find myself between code editors and canvas-based design tools and this thing is great for that. The omnidirectional scrolling is really intuitive and there's a ton of flexibility with the mappings. More than enough layers, multi-function buttons, dynamic roller bearings, and I know it might not be for everyone but I love this colour combination. It's all good stuff.

You'd think that's me done right? But I'm an enthusiast and can't help myself so I do have an endgame on order which I'm eagerly awaiting. I'll post my first impressions when it arrives.
