Rough Day

A client I have had for nearly 20 years lost her son last night in a boating accident. I found out 90minutes before my first appointment of the day. She isn’t on my books for another two weeks, but today I saw two of her friends that she had referred to me. I had to massage these two people today and not say a word. They are both talkers. 60 and 90 min of chit chat and silly stories about travel and grandkids.

It wasn’t my story to share, and I’m not in the business of spreading pain. They both said “See you in a month!” And I just smiled and said “yep!” knowing I’ll see them sooner at a funeral. My last client forgot and I rescheduled them for next week. And sat in my room and wept.

Flair is just so I can post. I don’t have anywhere else I can talk about this.

Day of Coordinator

Hello all! I am transitioning careers from full time Licensed Massage Therapist to Day-Of event coordination. I come from a long line of DIY weddings and events (anniversary, milestone bday, baby showers, bridal showers) and truly enjoy helping people bring their vision to life while staying as on time as possible.

I have coordinated one wedding for a friend this year so far(and it went amazing!) and have my second lined up for this coming September. I am realizing I need a list of questions that would help both myself and the prospective couple determine if we are a good fit.

Other than the basic questions of date/time, size of wedding party/# of guests, what questions would you as a bride/groom want to be asked? If you are a planner/coordinator, what questions help you determine if you are a good fit with the couple?

Scooter accident 5/4/26

Dear San Franciscans,

Thank you for helping my husband on 5/4. He had an accident while operating an electric scooter after leaving the Giants game. He told me he barely had time to register the fact that he was injured before a group of people descended upon him and rendered aid. One of you kind souls called me to let me know, another wrapped his head wound with their own sweatshirt. You kept him warm, comforted and safe until paramedics arrived.

Amazingly, he had no broken bones and only needed a few stitches on his head wound. He was able to fly home to Denver on Wednesday and has been recuperating at home, very bruised and battered but alive and intact for the most part.

I can’t tell you how grateful I am to you for taking care of him and not letting him be alone in those moments after the accident. We have visited your city twice and loved every second. This makes me love it even more. And please wear a helmet and don’t ride scooters in cities you are unfamiliar with after dark.

~A grateful wife
