Today is my late wife's birthday ....
Just throwing this out there ....

EDIT: What are you listening to today?!
Does this subscription base have a middle ground?
Feel like all I see is "I'm so lonely I want to slit my own throat" or "I friggin' hate everyone and want to slit their throats!"
I sincerely hope there are more people than me who are fine with where they are ....
What are you reading?
The Aviators: Eddie Rickenbacker, Jimmy Doolittle, Charles Lindbergh, and the Epic Age of Flight
By Winston Groom
Recently finished:
Black Elk: The Life of an American Visionary
By Joe Jackson (not the punk rocker guy nor the old timey baseball guy) ...
I'm a library/kindle reader, so I catch up with a lot of non-fiction that tends to be years older as it becomes available.
Raincoat or umbrella?
I live the the Great Lakes region of the USA. Almost everyone here uses umbrellas in the rain. A few years ago I visited the Pacific Northwest and found most people I saw wore raincoats and did not use umbrellas.
I found it extremely liberating going back home and buying a raincoat! Suddenly, I had both of my hands free!
It's been very rainy and thunderstormy here the past few days.
Sublime!
How do you deal with legal/medical issues and emergency entry into your home?
I've got the will and trust set up.
I've set up relatives with legal and healthcare powers of attorney. I don't think either would be able to do anything during an emergency where timeliness would be a factor.
I had given keys to my house to relatives (so they could bring in my mail and look after the house when I travel for a couple or three weeks). But before my last trip, they admitted they lost my keys. I never felt comfortable giving them a new set after that.
Not to be morbid, but are EMTs going to have to break down your door to get in?
Is your life on autopilot, in complete chaos or somewhere in between?
Mostly autopilot for me.
How do you deal when you are not where you want it to be? I can say with true honesty that I freak out for only a minute or two, but my "inner engineer" always comes back to ask, "Okay, how do I fix this problem?"
I guess the only reason is because my "inner engineer" kind of has a sense of where my true balance is. The only question to him/her is how to get there....
If I always lived in chaos (and that was "normal" for me), I think I would never be able to get out of it.
Maybe that is what is is like to have ADHD or some divergent issues like that which I've never experienced.
I don't know. I've never experienced it in full ....
I've been thinking about a friend of mine, lately, who might be like this ....
What song is playing in your head?
Triumph - Suitcase Blues ....
Un-soloing ....
Temporarily caring for a relative's doggie ...
He's so fun and so cute!
I'm not going to get into whether or not one is or is not solo when they have pets.
But whether changing to with or without (sorry if you had to do this) it is a big change of lifestyle.
I looked after the little guy a few weeks ago for a weekend. Now I'll have him for a couple of weeks.
I have a new roommate all of a sudden!
All the positives and negatives apply!
This is not him, but is a close enough (and free to use) approximation to protect our privacy ....
EDIT:
I'm a huge /r/walking person in my solo life. I had no idea how much walking with a dog opens doors to humanity. I've met so many people (and their dogs) in the few days I've spent with this guy.
Shout out to Steve and Diesel; [Anonymous] and Morty; Helena and Rio; Jacob and Fugly!
Plus all the walk by "He's beautiful" people. who never notice me when I'm pacing along on my own ...
