Where to meet new friends or people to date as a woman in her late 20’s?

I’m not from here and moved here a couple of years ago. During this time I got out of a long term relationship a little over a year ago and am looking to make new girl friends and also looking for places to meet men (dating apps are horrible and I’m burnt out on them).

Are there any kind of singles events or a nightlife scene by chance? Spent the last ten years in a relationship and working on my career so I missed out on all the fun stuff like college, house parties, going out, dating around, etc. So I’m not too sure how to seek those environments out. Raves look like they would be a lot of fun too.

A few of my hobbies are kayaking, gardening, cooking, home brewing, trying new restaurants, and I love to drive over to Nola when I can find someone to go with me.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Found the cutest little “vintage” red radio/bluetooth speaker that reminds me of the one Kiki had. Watching the movie while listening through my radio and cooking ☺️

Best torch to buy for home use for recipes such as cremé brûlée?

I’ve been combing reviews all day and comparing options listed on the serious eats article: https://www.seriouseats.com/best-kitchen-torches-5196057.

The best options seem to be the following:

https://a.co/d/03ee76vp (Bernzomatic Trigger Start Torch - TS 8000)

https://a.co/d/0ilsWIW3 (Iwatani PRO2)

https://a.co/d/0alpzX0r (Rösle 12844)

https://a.co/d/0hqY36EH (Messermeister Cheflamme Culinary Torch)

I would be eternally grateful if anyone could share recommendations for any torches, not just the above. There are so many options that it’s becoming overwhelming!

I plan to use it at home, but longevity is very important to me as well as consistency and ease of use. I don’t mind something that has a learning curve though. I’ll mainly be using it for desserts.

What do people do around here for fun other than casinos/how to become more social and involved?

I moved to Diamondhead at the beginning of 2024 and have worked from home the entire time. I don’t know anyone on the coast other than a work friend who it’s hard to see due to life constraints and one friend who is temporarily here I met on Bumble bff.

I’m looking for ways to branch out or groups I could join (29 year old woman). I’m passionate about cooking and trying new cuisines/recipes, home brewing beer/mead, jewelry making, I have a kayak, any type of art interests me including pottery, painting, crafting, etc.

I got with my ex husband when I was 18 (relationship ended at the beginning of 2025) and I spent a lot of time over the years working 7 day weeks so I missed out on single college years and opportunities to build a social life that others had, and I feel like it’s time to branch out.
