Happy Birthday America the beautiful!

250 years in the making and although the world is constantly in chaos. We don’t always agree with the choices people make. But at least we are free to make those choices! I can’t think of a place I would rather call home than America! From sea to shining sea, I am proud to be an American.

Also where I can buy 2 different type vehicles and always have the right to worry which will break down 1st🤣🫡
God bless America and here 🍺is to another 250 years of freedom! 🇺🇸

Recommendations of local businesses/recreation

Edit 2: I'm in Gulfport specifically, but don't mind a little bit of a drive for the right places.

I just moved back to the area. I lived here very briefly about 10 years ago. I prefer local businesses over big corporations. I'm gonna list these as simple as possible to hope its easier to read.

  1. Hat shaper - my felt cowboy hat took a a bit of a beating in the move. Its a nice hat, I'd prefer someone with lots of experience since its not the standard shaper
  2. Dog parks/beaches - I have a Border Collie and a short haired pointer that love to play fetch, could use a nice big area. Some water for them to get into is preferred so they can cool themselves off when they get too hot (both are black and not used to this southern heat)
  3. Are there any local grocery stores? I went to Rouses last night for dry ice, its not a chain I've ever heard of.
  4. Kayayak spots. I've never kayaked in the ocean although I want to try. I do have a fishing kayak and may fish at times, but mostly just like to enjoy the water. Would love some people to go with as well.
  5. Gun ranges - I prefer outdoor, and would like to be able to push out to 500m or further to practice my long shots. Don't want to be forced to sit or have to follow any super strict rules, just your typical safety guidelines.
  6. Dry Cleaners - my dress clothes got wrinkled in the move
  7. Dog sitters/boarding - I will have to occasionally travel for work. In the past I usually use Rover until I find someone I like. Prefer for them to be somewhere other than the vet
  8. If anyone is selling a truck let me know. The engine in my SUV blew up during my move. I'd like something rated to tow 10k pounds, but could sacrifice that for the right price. Looking for older beat up cheaper trucks, not a big payment or a loan. It's for local use, doesn't need to be perfect

Edit: local gyms would be nice too

Fishing places, anyone want to go?

I’m new to Biloxi, and I’m used to fishing freshwater so I’m not well versed in saltwater fish. I have a pole that will be able to catch the what I’m assuming, stronger fish. I’m not looking for honey holes, I’m just wondering if there’s anywhere people usually go, maybe I could get some advice and tips etc

RIP to more of our beautiful land and forest

Im so sick and tired of our trees and precious land being destroyed and dug up for some bullshit that nobody asked for, anyone want to start protest? Theres already no foresty areas that are walkable here the closest is at least half an hour away and they just will never stop getting rid of them for some dumb shit. Instead of taking down the trees how about they get rid of them funky ass buildings that no one ever even goes to.

Apartment Recommendations and Moving Advice

I got quick notice that I’ll be moving to the area in about 2weeks. Since I have to move in so little time I’m assuming I won’t have an apartment before I start my new job which starts July 14th. My plan is to move everything into storage and stay in an extended stay hotel until I find a place to stay. Does this sound like a good plan, or would you go about it differently?

If anyone has any advice or recommendations that would be greatly appreciated. I need recommendations on good storage units and apartments to checkout. I do have a list of apartments I’ve seen online but I haven’t got a chance to see them in person yet.

Homeless in Gulfport

Looking for help I'm homeless now no fault of my own and it's hard affording a motel room everyday so what places help single women to find a safe place to live. How I became homeless is crazy I had been living and caring for a lady I worked for her dad not the state so he was a single dad and got a girlfriend and then his gf moved in and then he gave me 6 days to be out the house. I think it was an illegal eviction for one and reason I was fired is bullshit because his gf was jealous. But anyways I'm homeless now with no job because I lost my home and job at the same time.

Cpuple-y things to do

This will be my second visit out to Biloxi this summer, looking for things to do with my bf.

He is pretty new to the area (moved his business to Biloxi less than a year ago) and doesnt have much time to get out himself and explore.

Thing we usually like to do:

-trail walks

-foodie activities, maybe a nice steakhouse to dress up for?

(I like yummy coffee & desserts, those viral fruit pastries are amazing.)

-fruit picking or gardening related things

-adrenaline type activities are his favorite

-neither of us are huge on typical, loud, nightlife but something casual/romantic would be fun

Any interesting events happening in 35ish days?

Open to look at just about anything to do, all recommendations are welcome. Please anything but the casinos 😆 literally anything but that. Those types of places are my worst nightmare, the sounds, smells and flashing lights... not for me.

Thanks for any recommendations 😊

Billboard

Hey everyone,

This may be an odd request-

But- I was just in Biloxi from Saturday to Tuesday this week. I remember seeing this billboard with 3 jets on it and I swear it said something like “home of the blue angels in Biloxi” but when I do my research, the blue angels are stationed in Pensacola.

Does anyone happen to have a picture of this billboard or knows which one I’m talking about and can tell me if I’m mixing it up?

Fast food hiring is just horrendous

Taco Bell and McDonald’s are so unprofessional I made interviews to both of them and they were like automated interviews and both said they weren’t hiring or just like ignored me when I called to see if I had my interview and both places had big we are hiring signs and still have the job posted online it just doesn’t make sense.

Vacation / Gambling

Hey all

Thinking about taking a solo trip from Dallas to Biloxi for about a week mainly to gamble, relax, eat good food, and have a little fun.
I’ve never spent much time in Biloxi, so I’m curious if it’s worth staying for a full week. My plan is to spend time at the casinos, check out the beach, maybe do some sightseeing, and enjoy the nightlife.
A few questions for locals and frequent visitors:
Which casino would you recommend staying at and why?
Are there any must-see attractions or hidden gems nearby?
Any special events, concerts, festivals, or shows happening in the next few weeks?
Is the weather and overall travel situation normal right now?
Anything I should avoid or be aware of as a first-time visitor?
Would love to hear your recommendations and whether you think a week is too long, just right, or not enough for Biloxi.
Thanks!
