I think I created a horde

I think I created a horde

note: I am not professional and just keep these things as food for my leopard gecko. and now they're a ravinous horde that will eat practically everything I feed them.

this substrate is just DG sand, oats, and some forest based mock mulch (for the springtails), their humidity is about 68(same as my Leo) (trying to follow rules btw)

FACKING love it, lagoon water is the best (as seen in both images), i'm just upset at the current lack of aquatic or semi-aquatic enclosure species.

but next exhibit is going to be for the titanboa and titalak.

any suggestions for other exhibits?

{“It takes all the running you can do, to keep in the same place. If you want to get somewhere else, you must run at least twice as fast as that!” — Through the Looking Glass, by Lewis Carroll

A butterfly flaps its wings in the Amazonian jungle, and subsequently a storm ravages half of Europe.”

Introduction

In 1960, a pharmaceutical company began running experiments in the Andes mountains. They went by the name InGen, and as time went on they became more and more private. The founder pulled from the public light, becoming cryptic in his announcements. Their rival bio-syn began becoming skeptical as all this happened. The local governments played this off as just another corporate rivalry, though bio-syn’s concerns were justified. A viral infection broke out in South America leading to Ingen abandoning their original facility and moving to the North American mountains. The American government monitored their endeavors, until they fully retreated into privateism. Officials of InGen began to pop up at dig sites with high fossil counts, once the bought fossils returned all areas that potentially had a contained medullary cavity had a hole leading to said cavity. As this all ran down, anonymous donors began massively funding certain locations with Huincul Formation and hell creek receiving the most. In August of 1970, zoos began receiving mysterious calls offering 2,000 per every 20 blood samples from the fauna displayed. Struggling zoos were able to sustain themselves on these transactions till they mysteriously ended this deal in march of 1972. The government’s suspicions began to grow more as these events continued to happen.  Their lack of proof prevented any investigation from starting, locals in the area of proximity began reporting strange vocalizations at night. With the number of missing pets increasing drastically from when they arrived, some reports have also begun flooding in of  bipedal “chicken-sized” lizards. In the summer of 1980, Peta began taking legal action against InGen's public labs for illegally testing medications on animals. Despite Peta's efforts the case was shut down for falsifying evidence, after this Peta was no longer allowed to attack any of InGen’s facilities… unless permitted by the American governments. In February eighth of 1987 InGen shut down all operations in America (excluding its pharmaceutical factories), and moved off-site to a storm prone island off the coast of Mexico and California. In 1994 rumors arose that InGen was hiring high amounts of people on said island with contractors having to sign NDAs about their work on the island. To this day, the operations of that island are still unknown…but not every staff member makes it back home.

Prologue: the demon in the monsoon

A man wearing a dark blue camo-print jacket, sparked their lighter as the rain hammered down from outside the awning. The flint struck letting the flame gently rise, they lit a cigarette letting the wick’s ash trickle onto the ground. The backdoor opened slightly as a man wearing tan and white spoke “Mind fixing the bloody circuit box in the north eastern sector, instead of giving your lungs cancer” they said in a disgruntled commanding tone, before closing the door. Their aussie accent bled through the rain just to violate his ears. A firm ‘tck’ came from the man as he flicked his charred cigarette into the mud, he reached out for the clear raincoat hanging on an airvent. He aggressively flicked up the hood, he snatched the toolbox and walked to the garage. The rain pooled and seeped into the drain below an electric dirt bike, he put the box in a back-bag and got on the bike. As it accelerated forward globs of rain smacked into his face, his head turned tilted as the rain hammered heavily onto his body. The wind rushed rustling every leaf of the foliage, the forest became more quiet as he reached his destination. The heavy metal gate was rusted from its base, the electric warning lights off. The man reached for his walkie in the outer pocket “hey control room, mind turning the gate on? Can’t exactly get in with it close.”

“Well, smartass. We can’t open the gate, IF THERE’S NO POWER GOING TO IT… fucking idiot”

The man shut off the walkie and clenched it till the plastic turned white. “DAMN IT” he screamed in utter anger before he exhaled deeply, he put the walkie back and aggressively snatched the tool box. As he stepped the gravel path onto the thick saturated mud his boost sunk slightly, he reached into the box pulling out a wrench with a rubber handle. His gaze turned to the many explicit signs saying ‘10,000 volts, keep hands away’. He grimaced before hesitantly tapping the large copper and steel cable with the wrench.

…no sparks…

He pulled back sharply, his grip on the wrench tightening further before reaching for another tap.

Nothing…

He put the wrenching back, his hands starting to tremble. He held the box in one hand, as the other slowly approached the cable. The trembling worsened until he was practically shaking, he firmly gripped the wire.

Still… nothing

The man let go and slid the box under the first cable before stepping onto the concrete barrier below the cable. His hands reached for the cable above his head, as he pulled the cable strained. The cable hummed in strain as the man’s full body weight was supported, once he reached the other side he hopped down. His boots sunk deeply as he landed and the rain began to intensify as the night grew dark. He pulled with high force to rip his boots out the greedy mud. He snatched the toolbox and began trekking inward, the foliage was thick almost like one piece of hedge. His boots left a trail of print within the mud, his foot snagged on a root. He pulled it unstuck and continued to walk forward, thunder rumbled in the distance. The clouds grew thicker and darker as he reached the center of this sector, the walkie loudly screeched with static. The loud sound made him jerk back startled by its abruptness, “Don’t worry about any of the animals here being hungry, they were fed two hours ago. A predator only hunts if it's hungry.”... he exhaled sharply before muting his walkie, his boots squished within the mud as he approached the circuit box.

A metal pole 8ft off the ground with a metal box attached at shoulder height. He walked up to it, he set the tool box down. Its red body getting smeared with the crimson mud as he swung the lid open, as he reached for the screwdriver. A putrid odor violated his nose making him grasp the lower half of his face in disgust, he fixed his gaze to the source as the wind blew it towards him. He visibly gagged as he reached for the circuit box, he looked up.

His eyes squinted to gain view.

The box was bashed in with something, “debris” he muttered as he unscrewed the wedged hatch. His fingers gripped the metal hatch, yet it won’t budge. He grabbed a wrench and pried it open, the panel busted open slamming into the pole. The circuits were completely destroyed, he clenched his fist in frustration before grabbing the spares. The brush rustled behind, a chill echoed through his body as the feeling of dread invaded his mind. His heartbeat began to quicken as fast as he could perceive, he clenched his chest wrinkling the raincoat. His heart grew louder, internal thumping in his head. The rain hammered down harder, his eyes blitzed round with a lack of fixation.

Then… something stepped out the brush behind him.

His eyes fixed…before glance behind, the rain distorted its angles making them sharper and crooked. Its pearlescent eyes staring into his mear soul, his body began to tremble as he slowly turned back to the circuit box. His breach growing into a quivery exhale, his hands twisted the screwdriver setting the fuses out place. As he placed the new ones in their place, the dread began to embrace his every thought. He glanced back, the animal had not moved. It just stared at him, its gaze unyielding. Once the task was complete he slowly went down to put the screw driver back. He looked away avoiding the predatory gaze of the animal, its head turned as he moved. He picked up the pace, his movement becoming less and less coordinated as the dread finally devoured what remained. He began to run, once he could no longer see the animal his mind calmed. The smell of rotting violated his nose once more, lighting struck in the distance followed by deafening thunder. He looked towards the now illuminated corpse, and his face turned to horror. It was a deer, its gut was sliced open leaving the intestines to pool out. He looked towards it with his eyes shaking, its ribs were broken… organs ripped out. The rain began hammering down more, mixing the blood into the dark mud. As the light grew dim once more, all shapes became jagged.
It stepped out the brush once more…

Its claws glinted in what little light remained, its pearlescent eyes staring him down. It stepped closer, the dread seeped its way back into his mind. As all was devoured his heart beat grew in its volume, like an infernal drumming. Everything began to distort as his mind failed to comprehend, it couldn’t handle the information funneling in. as the animal approached its rigid edges smoothed, into the shadowy silhouette. Its claws shimmered once more before,

In a single swift motion…

It stepped back with a crimson liquid dripping from its claws, the raincoat sagged in the front. His uniform felt suddenly soaked, he looked down… the cut had been clean and swift, he didn’t even feel it happen. He reached towards his intestines as they began to fall out, the animal merely stepped closer. Its claws now clean of the liquid, it reared up not breaking eye contact. Its foot struck him in the chest, fracture nearly all his true ribs, as he fell to the ground its stance lowered until its snout was inches away from the freshly opened gut. Its hand extended towards his neck, his eyes shaking in terror. Then… all darkness.

The animal reached inside and pulled out anything inedible before ripping out the liver. The electrical warning lights turned back on gently illuminating its speckled body as it dragged the kill into the shadowy brush.}

hope y'all like what i have so far for the draft
