what kind of release name do you prefer: name or concept?

as the title says, i'd love to know what people think on the matter... do you prefer your blythes to come with a default name (margo unique girl, love jaylah, stella savannah, very vicky, etc) or do you prefer for the name to express the concept (goody girl go go, leopard sass, quintessential journey, meowsy wowsy, etc) so that you can name them yourself?

i personally prefer giving them each unique names, and when they come with names by default it's harder for new names to stick. i also think the connotations names carry can vary by region and generation, so words with set definitions can be more precisely evocative and add to the storytelling.

on a side note, i find it interesting that they use a lot of names common (or at least known and thought of as fancy) in english speaking countries, but i don't think there are any japanese first names used. because their primary market is in japan, perhaps there is more romanticism in imagining a beautiful girl from a country far away, whereas japanese names might feel too "girl next door" or invoke memories of real people.

pattern from doll coordinate recipe 6 (p. 73)

all handsewn and fully lined... i need a sewing machine. the whole thing took way too long. i want to make a matching 70's style suit ensemble next because i'm crazy and i love to suffer.

i don't know whether to top the hat with a pompom or a covered button...
