NEXUS Doesn't Reflect Residency
I'm a US citizen with Permanent Residency in Canada. I was living in the US for two years, and have returned to live in Canada full time. However, I still travel south for work frequently (~3 times a month).
When I moved I updated my address with Nexus online. However, every time I arrive in Canada, I am seen as a "visitor" on my nexus slip, and end up having to show customs my PR card. When I leave the baggage hall as well, security is quite suspicious and asks my business in Canada, how long I plan to stay, etc.. One agent has told me it's because I'm showing up as a tourist in my declaration.
I have checked my Nexus account, which shows my Canadian address. US CBP told me they could not do anything about this issue. CA CBSA told me the same thing, saying I have to "take it up with Nexus."
Any tips? Is it possible there's some kind of flag on my account? I just worry about it affecting my PR renewal in a few years. Plus, the added suspicion and questioning every time often eats into the time savings of using Nexus, especially at a small airport like YTZ.
