gentle leader and men…

i have a 5 1/2 month old male standard poodle and he’s confident and friendly and such. he seems to shy away or even avoid men though if and close to us, as if he feels cornered. he’s not fearful and we’re training for service work right now and he’s comfortable with everyone else but some men makes him avoidant. this isn’t a constant but i’m hoping it doesn’t reflect his temperament. on another note, i bought a gentle leader today to work on fixing up some training and i’d love tips to condition him to it. thank you!

i feel stupid

i’m not really sure what the flair for this would be but anyways.

i have a 5 1/2 month old boy and he’s fantastic and training to be a service dog! he’s great with public access in pet friendly stores and otherwise aloof/neutral to people. for some reason, he shys away and even avoids some men and i’m worried it’ll become a fear, so i hired a trainer to help build his confidence. that’s not my issues however.

i got him from what i thought at the time, was an ethical breeder. they did everything right from fully health testing to showing their dogs to CH in the UKC (multi-color standards). they raised the puppies with socialization and such too. my boy and his sister were the last to be sold so i got him at 14 weeks. so it’s been some time and im looking back at his breeders instagram page and their Good Dog and i notice they either bred, or at least promoted doodles. they breed all poodle sizes and bullies so i dont see where a “mini goldendoodle“ came from, which is why i assume they’re promoting for someone. im not a fan of doodles and dont believe they are ethical to breed so finding this out was already gross. they also just got a new future stud puppy from a merle “poodle” breeder, though the puppy itself isn’t merle. i thought about purchasing again from this breeder but i decided not to in the future because of this. im not sure what im asking for, if anything, but i just needed to vent because i feel stupid. when i got my puppy, i was so excited that i didn’t really do a thorough search into their breeder. i love my puppy regardless of this, don’t get me wrong AT ALL. that was all, really. thanks for reading
