30 [F4F] A cozy third place
I just finished rewatching Ted Lasso and I can't stop thinking about the Dutch concept of Gezellig. It has no direct translation in English or Tagalog, but it describes that specific, warm, heart-opening feeling of togetherness, the kind of coziness that you feel kapag nasa tamang lugar ka, kasama ang mga tamang tao, at walang nagmamadali. As adults, it seems like our lives revolves around two places, bahay at trabaho. One day, you'll just notice na wala na yung physical o emotional sanctuary kung saan pwede kang pumunta para lang maging tao, huminga, at maging payapa kasama ang iba (or a third place, ika nga).
I'm looking to build or find that third place with people. Not necessarily something romantic, but genuine, long-term adult friendships o soul sisters. Stuff like maybe, we can make fresh pasta together, test out recipes, drink wine with no pressure! We can most definitely watch films and TV shows and sit on them and talk about how stupid or profound they are. Just talk about life and maybe discover things within us along the way. Lahat tayo pagod sa life and sa sistema ng gobyerno at flood control at impeachment and lahat ng effects nito sa buhay natin as average mamamayan, so it might be nice to have a place and people of sanctuary, ano?
