Stage invasion at All Together Now Festival

I’ve seen both Jarvis and Andrew on Instagram talking about a stage invasion during Pulp’s concert at the All Together Now Festival. I wasn’t there at all, but if anybody was, I would be very curious to hear what exactly happened and how the band reacted to it... especially Jarvis, since stage invasions used to be his thing.

Things that ONLY happen when you're a Pulp fan

Last week I woke up with a Pulp song completely stuck in my head, but I couldn't for the life of me remember the title. Normally, when this happens with any other band, I have two fallback options: I either hum the melody to a friend/family member, or I type a snippet of the lyrics into Google.

The problem this time was that I had zero lyrics in my head. All I had looping in my brain was a very distinct Jarvis moan accompanied by the music. Because it was literally just groaning and instrumentation, I obviously couldn't walk up to my relatives and start sensually moaning at them to ask if they recognized the track. I also couldn't exactly type "unff ahhh dramatic synth" into a search bar. But at the same time, that exact combination was the reason I was 100% sure it was Pulp and not anybody else.

I eventually tracked it down and it was, of course, "Acrylic Afternoons".

It made me laugh because it made me realize there’s a whole category of bizarre, specific situations that literally only happen with this band.
Case in point: I went to see them live this summer, and out of nowhere, Jarvis pulled grapes out of his pocket and threw them straight at my head. Where else in the music world do you get pelted with fresh fruit by the frontman and consider it a life highlight?

It got me thinking: what are your best "only with Pulp" moments?

Whether it's absurd concert memories, trying to explain Jarvis's stage antics/lyrics to non-fans, or weird song-identification struggles like mine, I'd love to hear them!

Have you watched American On Purpose, Craig Ferguson’s new show ?

I haven’t. Because I’m not American and I don’t have CNN. But I’ve seen clips, and of course, there’s neither Geoff nor Secretariat. But it’s Craig... in a suit... behind a desk... with a snake mug and a landline phone. I get the feeling that it’s the closest thing we’ve had to the Late Late Show in a long time.
