Help Please - Birkin Leaves Early Browning

I’ve had my birkin for around 2 years and understand that birkin leaves come out white then change to the green striping over time. However, for the past 6 months or so, all the leaves come out completely white and start browning before they can turn green. Some turn brown before they completely unfurl. I’ve just been cutting them off.

I’m thinking the problem was it was getting too much light. For context, it was in an east facing window but I live in a loft so that window is more like a literal wall. I’ve found it provides more bright light than a normal house window. I moved it a couple of weeks ago and now have it in more medium bright light. But I’m experiencing the same issue with the latest two leaves. Does anyone have any insight? Am I too impatient and/or totally missing the mark?

Also, I’m aware the pot is likely too big, but I don’t have any reason to believe this is caused by root rot because the other leaves are fine, etc. Happy to be corrected, though!
