Flu / COVID: How are we doing?
Are these going around right now?
Did you catch anything or have any stories?
Did you vaccinate yet, or are you waiting?
Anyone in the medical field have any updates?

I didn’t feel the needle go in, didn’t feel any pain, and have absolutely no soreness. it was the Tdap vaccine. Worried it was injected into my fat and didn’t go deep enough to hit my muscle lol
I know sometimes hernias slide in and out. I’m scheduled for a C-TIF surgery. So hernia repair + TIF.
… what happens if my hernia isn’t visible on the day of the operation will they still do anything to fix it?
I am in my mid 20s, and have been dealing with Chronic GERD (k21.9) since I was a young child. On a recent endoscopy it revealed a 2cm Hiatal Hernia, as well as a completely dysfunctional valve flap (Hill Grade Type IV). I trust my surgeons and they want to do the hernia repair along with the TIF. But this leaves me with a few concerns:
I know the TIF has less durability than the Nissen, and I’m still young. When I asked if the C-TIF will likely fail at some point, they told me this was “highly likely.” Why don’t they recommend the Nissen, instead? Since I’m so young, shouldn’t I skip straight to the Nissen for long term durability? Also, in terms of effectiveness, it seems better, right?
Because of the hiatal hernia and valve flap dysfunction along with findings of reflux based on impedance measurements taken during the endoscopy, and years of failed treatment, they said they have more than enough to confirm me for surgery. I wasn’t even able to get off the PPIs before my endoscopy because the reflux is that bad, and they said they still found evidence of reflux. But they aren’t requiring me to do additional PH testing or a Manometry. Is it safe to get the C-TIF without these tests, particularly the manometry? Personally, based on my anatomy and symptoms i’m less worried about skipping the ph bravo test, but is it okay to skip the manometry?
