What’s the difference between UX/UI Engineer and Front-End?

I found a job that I’m interested in but it has programming skills as desired and I have an extensive UX/UI Designing background but not too much coding. For qualifications, it lists Figma and Adobe skills which I do have.

This is what they consider as a successful candidate below:

The successful candidate will have experience and/or knowledge experience in user interface development, prototyping in Figma, and demonstrating and testing user interfaces via potential travel (~25% of the time) to collect customer feedback to incorporate into the iterative process.

I'll be having an interview next week and want to hear advice from others before then!

When to follow up for update, interim chances?

Company is LM and this role requires secret and been told about getting interim to get start date but am worried.

I’ve completed fingerprints, background check has been done on first advantage, and completed my SF86 on Friday. The only update I’ve gotten was a reminder for the 5 business day submission for SF86 which I have already done.

On the form, I forgot to put in one unpaid internship but everything paid and unpaid is there. The email did mention that applications that do not meet guidelines will be sent back for correction and resubmission so I decided to wait till they get back to me but not sure if that’s good.

My red flags for the SF86 is:

- I’m a naturalized citizen but country of origin is not a red flag with US and my parents are green card holders (all siblings are naturalized citizens though).

- Foreigns contacts are one cousin (1 week visit) and an aunt/uncle (2 months visit) who visited my family in US. However I've never left the country since immigrating to US.

Should I wait a week to ask for my status? Because my recruiter said my background check is pending and the role does need secret but they are trying to get me through interim.

Background Check Question

For those who listed unpaid internships on their background check, did the screening company request additional documentation since there was no paystub available?

UX Engineer vs UX/UI Design?

Hey everyone,

I am currently a UX/UI Designer and am interviewing for a UX Engineer role. I am honestly terrified that they are going to hit me with a intense coding or LeetCode-style technical interview.

Here is the scrubbed job description:

>We are looking for a professional to design and evaluate user-centered digital solutions. In this role, you will help create intuitive, efficient interfaces that improve daily workflows for our users. You will be responsible for creating prototypes, collaborating on interface layouts, and gathering user feedback to refine designs through an iterative process. Occasional travel may be required to meet with users and validate design concepts.

Given that it explicitly mentions prototyping in Figma, user testing, and traveling for feedback, it feels heavily design-focused. However, the title is "UX Engineer" and it mentioning "user interface development."

For those who work in defense or hold UX Engineer roles, what does the interview process typically look like? Am I going to be asked to code live, or is this more of a prototyping and design-systems communication role?

Thanks in advance for any insights!
