Fun discussions for reddit today: What makes a VTuber feel like an idol vtuber rather than just a streamer?

***

Hiya, I'm AriesFaries, a V-Idol / Virtual Idol (or at least I think I am) that streams on Twitch. Of course I want to know the thoughts of viewers of vtubers what really makes a vtuber worthy of an idol performer title rather than just a streamer / vtuber that perhaps occasionally performs.

On my quest to be an Idol Vtuber I've done vtuber concerts, live performance , released my own song ( Idol music /original ) , had live dancing streams ( Though if your more a singer I can see one doing more singing streams), released merch, learnt much about the kaigai idol community and learnt a bit about wotagei and wota. BUT... I still feel there could be more to learn! I'd love to hear what you think makes an idol vtuber.

Just finished one of my biggest VTuber concert projects yet: Chasin' Dreams! Produced by one Indie vtuber (myself - AriesFaries) featuring my vocals and dancing mocapped on my IRL movements on a shoestring budget. It was an honour to be a VTuber guest at SMASH! Con 2026.

It would mean the world to me if you checked it out! I'm going to keep working hard to bring more 3D concerts to conventions!

I wanted to create a guide for vtuber fans who are new to Anime/gaming conventions on how to have the best convention experience.
Some members of my community haven't been to a convention before so I wanted to help.
As a avid con goer myself, here are all the beginner mistakes to avoid as well as a bunch of beginner tips!

If your a vtuber that has vtuber fans that are nervous about going to their first convention to see you, feel free to use this video. It has been made to be generic to be able to be applied for all vtubers for their fans.
