I woke up to a rupture in my driveway next to where the garage floor meets. I could not figure out what the heck was going on. After breaking away the chunks that were sticking up I found a mushroom spore must have infiltrated in the gap between the driveway and the garage floor. Crazy that a mushroom has the force to push up the driveway. I had considered a sealing this fall so asked my normal sealing company if there would be any extra charge to patch the fist size hole. They came in with a quote of $450 to cut a 2'x2'. The price gave me sticker shock so I am just going to cold patch it myself with a $15 bag. Is this quote normal?

After 30 years the kitchen needs a bit of a refresh. I would like to get granite countertops. The room is going to be painted so ignore the paint and the blinds. The cabinets, appliances and floors are staying. I am going for something that has an interesting pattern but does not look odd in the kitchen. Only about 30 square feet of countertop. Floors are Hickory and cabinets are oak with a maple finish. I will replace the sink at the same time with an under counter 60/40 stainless style. The lighter color is a local tile shop. The darker is from Lowes. They are both around $65 sqft installed. I am open to other suggestions as well.
