I know two different couples in couples therapy who don’t even live together yet
That’s how bad the dating market is. One of them is long-distance too.

It starts with the basically anti-aesthetic work-out-two-months-a-year-from-guilt people at the most basic gyms, then regular people in OK shape at the midtier gyms, then the fucking mass monster dudes and fake tits fucked up lips girls at the most expensive gyms. Also the latter category tend to drive nice cars and have designer gym shoes but I get the impression they’re not actually well-off.
Are ya’ll doing this thing where everyone is now wearing maximalist technical running shoes or trainers from the mid-2000s with the fucking mesh and synthetic overlays and fluorescent features and whatever other bullshit that are super anti-aesthetic and so are kind of used as almost like a brutalist fashion statement?
It's a trend that I just cannot get on board with. I understand, I guess, the kind of peacock principle of I'm so cool in Bushwick or whatever that I can wear the most dorky utilitarian shit possible to essentially signal how deeply cool I am because I'm so cool that even that can't take away from my coolness. Idk something weird about seeing people I know consciously adopting the trend.

I work a job that should in theory be one of the more AI-replaceable jobs, in an industry that should in theory have the know-how to replace workers with AI where possible. That’s not happening at all, there are AI efficiencies being achieved here and there, but nothing transformative.
What is absolutely happening though is companies are increasingly hiring from cheaper labor markets (mostly India obviously) and employing skeleton teams in the US and maybe England to clean up the bullshit. Like, a lot of my day is spent cleaning up AI slop with ESL errors introduced throughout. Or fixing insane data errors, even though I’m not a data person, because the cheap offshore hire threw whatever free-tier ChatGPT hallucinated numbers in there between his other two U.S. jobs.
Last year, my team and a bunch of other teams were laid off from a reasonably well-known company in the technology space, only to see our jobs slowly being readvertized in “Gurgaon.”
And it’s perfect because no one in the corporate world or on LinkedIn would dare sound off about it because it sounds vaguely racist. But in actual fact it’s probably the No. 1 labor issue we face.
I don’t claim this is an original take, but just want to report from the ground I guess.
My wife’s friend who has never stepped foot in a gym has started taking creatine.
Another who was on Ozempic for a bit but is still fat and does sex tourism in southern Europe where she can flex on guys who make USD$18,000 a year but is all Why Are Men back stateside has started taking it because TikTok convinced her it will sculpt her triceps??
My point is that there’s a lot of money to be made selling bullshit to credulous women online. I don’t wanna hear excuses for why you’re broke.
