WHW with an infant

Where will we be able to buy nappies and formula along the way? Not picky about brands.

For context, I and my partner plan to hike the WHW from Milngavie to Fort William over 11 days this September with our 1-year-old daughter. She eats food well but is still largely reliant on formula. We’ll be carrying her and all our gear (yes, it’ll be a challenge!) and have booked a guesthouse for each night.

Addendum: thanks all, sounds like baggage transfer is the way to go. Most of our stuff we’ll carry anyway while walking, but it will be nice to have additional evening and rest day clothes, and of course baby gear.

Rough Play Before Bedtime is Awesome

I played rough with my daughter (9mo) one night before bed, and she went to sleep instantly! Since then I’ve been doing it every night, and sleep is as easy as zipping her sleep sack and putting her down in the crib. She sucks on the sleep sack for a moment then falls asleep. Not a single tear has been shed at bedtime in the week I’ve been doing this! And the giggles are the best. A quick google tells me that this is a widely known thing that helps kids blow off steam.

Examples of playing rough: rolling over with her on my stomach (protecting her with my arms), throwing her up in the air, running around the house while holding her (and making airplane sounds, obviously), throwing her into pillows (always on her back, and ensuring head and body land at the same time to avoid neck and spine torque), sliding her across the bed pulling on her legs. Making up a story, lots of sound effects, making it as wild as possible has been an absolute blast.

I minimize distractions during this time to make sure I don’t make a careless error with my precious little thing that I’m now tossing around like a pizza.
