Help me identify a forgotten skipping toy from around 2008
I’ve been trying to identify a toy I had as a child, probably around 2008 in the UK, but I can’t find any trace of it online.
Here’s everything I vaguely remember:
It came with a blue-and-white waistband/belt.
There was a white oval electronic pod that clipped onto the belt.
The pod had a speaker, no screen, and I think only two buttons.
It also came with a normal skipping rope.
The toy was mainly white with purple and light blue colours, and I think it had some floral motif.
It had an American female voice that sang and spoke.
Instead of modern songs, it played traditional skipping rhymes, including:
“Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, Turn Around”
“Not Last Night But the Night Before…”
I don’t remember if it counted your skips, but the idea was to skip along to the rhymes.
The electronics were definitely in the clip-on pod, not in the rope handles.
I’ve ruled out things like Skip-It, regular electronic jump ropes, and dance mats.
Does anyone remember this toy or know what it was called it’s driving me nuts. I have a feeling it was hard to find in the UK at the time?
