Numb Pinky

Hi everyone

I recently purchased a road bike and assembled a fully functional setup for a bike packing trip intended to last almost a month. I am from Denmark, so I initiated my joruney from Aarhus and headed south towards Hamburg. Unfortunately at the end of day 2 I experienced a slight numbness on the inside of my right little finger. At first I ignored the numbness as I thought it was a product of muscle fatigue or exhaustion. The next two days the numbness kept being present, and although I massaged my forearm and tried to keep my elbow straight (to allow the blood stream to flow easily), my pinky was still numb.

Now on the third day, I started researching, and realised that this could actually be rather serious. Apparently this is common in cycling, as you apply a lot of pressure on your palms, and thereby can block or squeeze the guyon canal and ulnar nerves.

I write this post in order to consult with this community, to figure out if anyone has had a similar experience? And how long it lasted? And what you can do to make it better? I do not feel any reduced strength, only a numbness, and I am therefore also wondering if, an adjusted bike setup (different handle bar, lower seating to put more weight on the saddle) would allow me to continue?
