For the latest piece in my newsletter, I used data from the Chapel Hill Expert Survey (2024) to visualize where European parties fit on the left-right spectrum. The charts are made with a bit of Datawrapper, and a lot of Adobe Illustrator. It's fascinating how clearly the patterns in far-right policies and ideologies emerge when they're plotted.
Hi! I'm a total data nerd. I'd never thought much about Burning Man before seeing the MOOP Map for the first time this year. And I'm totally obsessed! It's such an incredible work of data collection! So, I wrote about it for my data newsletter. Thought I'd share in case anyone is interested. (No ads, no need to subscribe!) Probably not much new here for a community that already knows about the MOOP, but for my audience (a bunch of other data geeks), it has been super interesting to learn about. And I think it's something the Burning Man community should be proud of.
I’m looking for a tv ad featuring a busy line cook with fast paced percussion soundtrack that sounds like kitchen utensils were used as the percussion instruments. If I remember correctly there is a pause with the sound of a person inhaling. I saw it in Canada and I thought it was a Nicorette ad, but possibly a Health Canada PSA. It was definitely a smoking cessation spot from several decades ago. It aired after 1980 but not old enough that it would have been on black and white tv, rather the black and white was a visual effect. Or a grainy effect. One of my favourites. Would love to see it again! I have looked around on YouTube, and also using chatGPT, but no luck.
