Big balcony with no privacy
I have a gorgeous big balcony that I love, but it has one major flaw. The railings are glass, and I live directly above the entrance to my building, facing the parking lot. On top of that, my building is built kind of halfway into a hill, meaning the building next door has their parking lot one level above ours - the same height as my apartment. When I’m sitting on my balcony, every single person coming in or out of either building makes direct eye contact with me. I feel like I’m in a fish tank!
I’ve tried a few things to help. I’ve tried to grow plants to block the glass railings, but by the time they grew enough to be effective, it was getting cold again and I have no place to store them indoors over the winter. I bought these large woven plastic screens that worked pretty well, but were very hard to attach to the glass railings. My balcony also gets direct sun, and the plastic started to disintegrate by mid autumn. It also gets pretty windy, and because I couldn’t tie them down very effectively, they kept flapping around.
Any help would be very appreciated!
My limitations:
Glass railing that is very hard to attach anything too
Lots of sun and wind in the summer
Long, cold winters and very little indoor storage space
I currently have a nice big sectional, a side table, some solar lights and a few small plants out there.
