Edwards is now home to a 5-story parking garage tower
The new West End complex in Edwards has gone vertical, and it's started with a massive, five-story parking garage largely left out of all the website's renderings.
Let me start by saying I 100% support more and more dense housing in ski country. I have zero objections to this many bedrooms (or many, many more bedrooms) getting added to Edwards, Colorado. I really wish they came in a layout more similar to Miller Ranch (street grid, trees and pocket parks, walkability), but a single developer's massive complex is fine too, i guess.
My problem is this is giant a giant fucking parking garage. It's far bigger than anything else in town, vertically. It's on a hillside down to the Eagle River, near a beautiful open space park. And it's now Edwards' single defining architectural feature. Some towns reserve that for, IDK, a clocktower or like, a handful of church spires. But no. the building way taller than anything else in Edwards now? A concrete parking garage, abruptly rising above an open field. Brilliant design.
