I-485 FINALLY APPROVED — THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to share that my I-485 was finally approved today, May 19, 2026. I am so relieved and grateful. This subreddit has been such a huge space of comfort, information, and discussion throughout this process. I’m genuinely thankful for every response I received and every person who reached out. This is a really great community, and I’m so grateful for all of you.

Now I’m just waiting for the actual green card. For those who were recently approved, how long did it take from “Case Approved” to card produced / card delivered?

Field Office: Fairfax / Washington, DC
Case timeline:

  • March 13, 2025: PD
  • March 27, 2025: RFE issued for I-130 and I-485
  • March 31, 2025: USCIS received response for I-130 RFE
  • April 22, 2025: USCIS received response for I-485 RFE
  • April 26, 2025: Biometrics
  • April 30, 2025: I-765 approved
  • May 5, 2025: EAD card produced
  • August 15, 2025: Interview completed
  • August 15, 2025: I-130 approved
  • May 19, 2026: I-485 approved

Thank you all again so much. Truly wishing everyone still waiting a smooth and fast approval soon.

It’s over 13 months so here I am asking for support/others experience. 9 months since interview. FO Fairfax

Hi everyone, I’m getting really frustrated with this process and wanted to see if anyone else has experienced something similar or has any advice.
Here are my details:

PD: March 13, 2025
Marriage-based AOS to a U.S. citizen
Interview date: August 14, 2025
Came is as F1 in 2013, been on F1 through undergrad, masters and PhD.
No overstays
FO: Fairfax/DC
No RFEs at all
I-130 was approved the day after the interview (August 15, 2025)
I’m not from one of the 75 banned countries

At the interview, I was told I should hear back within 90 days. Obviously that didn’t happen, and now we’re about 9 months post-interview with zero updates. My online status still just says “still processing your case.”

I’ve already:
Submitted service requests
Contacted my congressional representative for an inquiry

But every response has basically been the same generic “your case is still processing.”

What’s confusing is that my case seems very straightforward, especially since the I-130 was approved immediately after the interview. The average processing time for Fairfax is around 13 months, and we are beyond that but I honestly don’t understand what could still be pending at this point.

Is anyone else stuck in post-interview limbo like this? Especially at Fairfax/DC?

Did your case eventually move without any updates, or did you have to take additional steps (ombudsman, mandamus consult, second inquiry, etc.)?

Would really appreciate hearing other experiences because this wait is becoming exhausting.

I am so confused! My PD was March 13 2025, interview was August 14 2025 and the online status stayed at “interview was scheduled” until today (May 1).
Today I got an email and I went to the portal and it said “case is still being processed”.
Shouldn’t it be “active review” at this stage?
Has anyone else gotten this update after interview? Did you get approval or RFE soon after?
My FO is Fairfax (DC)
