Worst experience at triund top
Went to triund top on 6th oc. On the final stretch of 1.5 kms, it started raining heavily with occasional hailstorm in between. Even with a raincoat the water was entering my bag and I was fully soaked in a few minutes. Upon reaching the top, drenched and fully tired as my bag was full of water too, I was shivering with cold. I saw this small cafe made out of stones called DHAULADAR CAFE. With too much fog and my guide nowhere to be seen, I requested this guy if I can enter and get myself warm for just 5 minutes and then leave to find my camp. It was still raining heavily, this guy operating the cafe straightaway told me NO!
I offered to buy something from him and he told me that he's closing the cafe in a few minutes.
I get it he doesn't owe me anything and I was on my own. But upon waiting 5 minutes in the rain nearby trying to figure out what to do next, I see this guy allowing 3 girls inside his cafe serving them tea. I go ask him why won't he do the same for me in a pissed off way tbh and he says JO KRNA HAI KRLO.
With not much visibility I see this closed guest house type with a tin sheet roof porch where I could stand . I go there and had to wait there for an hour for the rain to stop. Losing all hope and the rain still not stopping I decide I've no choice to go my find my camp in the rain. And I see this guy still open, and still serving people. I don't understand what I did wrong to be treated this way. I'm a punjabi guy btw and I spoke to him in punjabi at first. I hope people who go to triund top know that you're on your own mostly. They might or they might not help you. Be prepared for the worst.
With cherry on the top I get to know that my guide has ran off the mountain. And no one was taking responsibility for pitching my tent even when I paid for it in mcleodganj itself from a travel agency called travel routes. Feeling helpless I pay a random guy money to pitch a tent for me. He did pitch my tent but after pitching 20 tents for his group. What I mean to tell everyone is they don't care about you. It's all about money, and sometimes for things even I cant explain. Please be careful and plan accordingly. Take your tent with you and do not depend on these people. And specially for this guy from dhauladhar cafe, he will get his karma one day.
I would like to reiterate, that I was not just denied help with pitching the tent. I was not given one for which I paid through in advance. I had to pay someone else for a new one.
Update - Alot of people here are making this into an issue that I should have learned the skills to survive up there(which I did btw). But I specifically named the agency who sold me a fake lie and the cafe owner who was allowing other people to enter but just not me even when I was a paying customer and he had plenty of space. I love triund, I just had a bad experience with the cafe guy and the the agency I booked the tent through.
