am i wrong for texting my relative about bringing food over without asking first
so the other night we had people over for dinner and one relative showed up with a big tray of something they had just cooked. they didn't ask ahead of time and just set it down on the table like it was part of the plan. it threw off what i had already made and how much space we had, plus a couple of guests had already mentioned dietary stuff that the new dish didn't match. i felt put on the spot and didn't say anything in the moment because it was busy. now i'm wondering if it was worth bringing up later. i ended up texting them the next day to say thanks but also that next time it would be easier if we planned it first. they haven't replied yet and i'm sitting here wondering if i was too blunt or if i should have just let it go. i get that they were trying to help and it was nice of them, but it still felt like the boundary around what was being served got crossed without a heads up. am i wrong for speaking up about it?
