i'm aware that there are some serials, and an early 90s film that seems very devotional, on the one hand, or something like nolan's oppenheimer, on the other (cue "i am become death, destroyer of worlds").
is there a middle ground– something cinematically rewarding but having more to do with the text itself? i am particularly interested in the scene where krishna reveals his true form to arjun. any language or medium, animated etc, is fine. i once taught the gita to college freshmen and wanted to recapture that sense of awe for my film group, now that a certain other ancient epic has a big splashy hollywood feature...
