Found the Holy Grail! IF Combat Patrol

Found the Holy Grail! IF Combat Patrol

I've been hoping to come across the IF Combat Patrol but thought it unlikely. A couple of different friends recommended an new LGS only 10 minutes away, a small independent place. During a nice chinwag I spotted it on the corner of my eye, literally jumped in excitement!

Last Wall Protocol - lots of models - your input needed

After some great advice from this reddit and 11 test models, I've come close to an IF colour scheme (also I will never use chalky white citadel spray ever again!). I have also done some test schemes for BT and CF, so time to plan my Last Wall Army split. This is where I need my brothers input, I have a ton of models, how should I split these into a Last Wall based on lore, creativity and your opinions.

The model list below:

Sons of Dorn Box: 2 X Repulsors and 2x Dreadnoughts

Armageddon Box Space Marines x 2: Captain with Relic Shield, Librarian, Chaplain, Ancient, Intercessors, Vanguards, eradicators and Land Speeder

Black Templar Old Combat Patrol and a New Cobat Patrol: Main thing to mention here is the Impulsor

Imperial Fists Pauldrons (Shoulders)

Where you do you all get your Imperial fist pauldrons from? I have bought the GW upgrade pack and do not fancy buying this 8-10 times for both IF and CF armies.

There has to be a more cost effective option?

Returned to 40k as a Son of Dorn - how to get good coverage eith yellow?

I have wholly embraced the concept of a last wall protocol army. I have just started painting again after a long break - I am struggling with getting a good base yellow which is deep enough.

Image 1 - Dark Seer undercoat and Vallejo Xpress Imperial Fist wash (one coat). The image makes it look bettet than it is, it feels thin and almost shows a undertone of green.

Image 2 - Dark Seer undercoat, 1 x coat of moon yellow followed by a coat of sun yellow.

Neither method feels like they have good coverage, feeling patchy and I'm not creating that deep yellow I have been seeing here by fellow painters. What advice do you fellow sons of Dorn have?
