Hello fists. I recently picked up the old 10th edition starter set as I am a tyranids player, but the thought of starting an IF army with the rest is way more exciting to me right now. I've looked at the company color schemes and I really like the darker trim of the 5th and 8th company. Wondering what units you'd most likely find in these companies? What shoulder markings would the different units wear? Also what style of base would you recommend. I basically want to make an army that looks EXACTLY like one these companies fighting on a planet/environment they would likely be fighting on. Any lore, suggestions, and pointers would be greatly appreciated as I know next to nothing about the Codex Astartes and all that jazz. Thank you!!!

My first try with white airbrush color followed by fluo-red. Not so happy. What am I doing wrong? Used the airbrush just for contrast-basecoats until now.

I'm primarily a competitive AoS player but every two years or so I take a few months off painting AoS to paint imperial fists as a palette cleanser.

Back at it once again, I'm starting by magnetizing my dreadnought with some new weapons and a few more heavy intercessors

I love the Imperial Fists. It’s been my favorite faction ever since I got into Warhammer. But sometimes I feel this urge you know? An urge to be a Black Templars player instead. I can’t explain it but it feels like a call from the dark side for some reason lol. Any one else feel like that?

First time painting Space Marines and Imperial Fists. I think they came out decent.

I've been hoping to come across the IF Combat Patrol but thought it unlikely. A couple of different friends recommended an new LGS only 10 minutes away, a small independent place. During a nice chinwag I spotted it on the corner of my eye, literally jumped in excitement!

Army transport can be a bit of a head scratcher especially when you cant drop $100's on a bulky case

I magnetized! Still have room.for my.other dreadnaught amd atv. 1500pts in 1 and then i carry my drop pod and 2 repulsors in their own smaller toolbox. Just thought id share. The toolbox was $14. The magnets and sheets maybe $10 all peel and stick. So $25?

Pretty bare bones because I don’t play heavy nearly enough as I should.

Wanted to give yellow another shot, and to simplify the scheme (prefer a black aquila to dark red). This was built up from a base of Vallejo Sun yellow (recess Reikland, sponged on moon yellow, 1:1 glaze of Cassandora+Lahmian, edge highlights of toxic yellow and bone white).

Even so, part of me feels the yellow tonal range isn't as strong as it could be; it feels like there's a very fine line between going too orange and too "lemony".

I really like the lore of the second company and was thinking of building up a force based on them. The reddish gold I used for the Iron Halo, sword hilt and relics could work (it reads a bit darker when not directly underneath my painting lamps), but "yellow on yellow" pauldron trim might be the way to go, as long as it's separated with panel lining and there's some battle damage applied to break up all the yellow?
