We should be moving on the the next one tonight

So I know it's only small improvement but I've given him a health glaze with the impirial fist contrast paint (pause) I've manged to paint the respirator on his helmet too which I'll admit was abit tricky to get into that tight of a spot but we got there in the end now it's just added those finer details on with the red and metallics and I think a good wash down with agrax then cure for 24hr

Terminator progress

I've tried my best to clean him up and wouldn't say I've done half a bad job he's definitely not perfect at all but for a first time 40k mini at a distance its decent enough just gotta paint In the last few things like lenses and the gun shroud I believe the aspexs lense on his helmet needs to be done too

I'll definitely be paying more attention to prep work on my next one and making sure all those mold lines get scrubbed before priming but hey it's all apart of the learning curve I've enjoyed this alot and it's taught me to keep pushing on even when I don't exactly feel great about the process sometimes you've just gotta keep going and just see where it goes

Burn out anyone?

So I've recently got myself into warhammer and I've been slowly enjoying the process of painting minis which has been relatively fun although I've found myself neglecting my gunpla now

Last week my step daughter wanted me to open up the RG V gundam and I've made a crack but only just got to finishing his feet now moving onto the legs after looking in the manual and seeing nearly three pages of just instructions for the legs alone it's proper put me off but this is a similar story with even HG kits I look in the box and genuinely just don't have the excitement to build anymore since just the clean up alone on some models can take a lengthy time and I just don't have that kinda time to sit and carefully go over nubs as I just don't feel like the build even progresses much I've tried taking a couple weeks break before all this as I notice it happening much earlier than even getting my first warhammer box

I've discussed it with my wife and admittedly sold off quite a good chuck of my backlog as I just felt like they were abit wasted just sitting gathering dust when someone else could actually be getting on with snipping I kept a few things for myself just incase of raindays like this EX/S gundam which is abit of a grail kit for me as not for nothing I've hardly watched zeta gundam but design wise he's my section favourite Ms design (first will always be deathscythe) I just love the evolution of zeta suits and how sharp the helmet looks on them all too even the fazz considering he's a chuck his head mold is very sharp and eye catching so I definitely do still have some spark to carry on building my wife suggested maybe one week building and painting warhammer minis and the next week to come we focus more on a gunpla kit just to break things up and that way I'm not having to focus and worry so much I can take abit of a step back and look towards the next week as something to look forward too and work towards vice versa

My first finished mini

So I managed to get around to finishing my stormcast eternal practice last night and honestly I know there is definitely things I can improve on in the future and I've noted such down too ill make sure to still practice but also read info and watch some tutorials online too just to get a better idea for stuff going forward

Never the less I'm actually quite proud of him all be it a shit primer job giving him a poor finish but again I note that I didn't prime him in the best conditions and have since learnt I need to prep my primer before spraying also test spray on spoons or paper just to see how the paint flows first given these are steps I didn't take before I can respect this dude isn't going to win any golden demons anytime soon but he's a good test bed too look back on 😊

Dreadnought primed and ready for paint

I prepped the primer by putting it in a bucket of warm water for ten minutes just to help thin it out abit aswell as gave the can a good shake for around 5 minutes after

Spraying I tried to be much closer this time appose to far away like my first attempt with the storm cast I found I got a much better result this time around there is definitely some grain texture here and there but no where near the same level as my first attempt this dudes panels are smooth enough

I did also notice after it had cured that there was minor orange peeling on the surface but this was an easy fix as I just gave the model a good brush down with a fine makeup brush which knocked away the blemishes

I'll admit ita a little intimidating as I wanted to go with impirial fists yellow/contrast iyadine yellow at this stage do I just have him a once all over with base pink and then go with the yellow once the pink has set? genuinely just looking for some help so I don't mess him up as this is intended as a desk display for my wife's late grandpa whom isn't with us anymore

He's not perfect by any means but he's my very first miniature

I got myself the trial stormcast box with paints provided more or less just as practicing painting as I really want to build an impirial fists army with knights which I've managed to obtain a dominus aswell as the 3 armigers needed I just need the other two knights which should be around Christmas time so for now I've just got lots and lots of practice to be doing

Please go a little easy on me he's still Wip for now I'm yet to add the other colours in and I'll provide updates too but I'm enjoying it so far even if I did mess the priming up 😑 I've researched this since and will prepare better in future

That's what you get when you prime during the middle of a heatwave with zero clue what your doing

Impirial fists dreadnought progress so far

Honestly I'm having a great time putting this dude together he's my very first war hammer mini I've since picked up some knights too as I wanted them to be painted in the hawkshroud theme after listining to some fists lore these guys seem to have swore an oath to dawn and are housed on the phalanx ship along with other heavy units

I've got some paints in the ready although I don't have an airbrush unit so this will be handbrush do you guys/gals have any tips for a first timer with what I could do in terms of painting I've got impirial fist yellow aswell as iyadine too which will be going over bone wraith white primer

▲ 204 r/matchbox

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say imo matchbox has the superior Rx7 FD mold when compared to hotwheels

So the car in question is the 2002 Mazda Rx7 FD spirit R

The matchbox mold seem to have far sharper details when it comes to realistic preportions and scale I think the car is super photogenic and looks great in any angle I just wish they made more colours and maybe a tuned version in the future 🤙 rocketbunny or RE kit would look super nice

If you take the RLC premium 1993 Rx7 FD R1 from hotwheels they have seriously cut corners in terms of detailing as even the spoiler on the rear doesn't have its cut out it's just one soild block which to me as a mazda fan just looks disgusting to display it's nice they added the opening hood gimmick with this specific version but that being said they are extremely expensive for what you get and even then the paint detailing in the engine bay is very very sub par I believe if matchbox was to incorporate this into their Rx7 mold it would be a show stopper just please don't scrimp on the paint work for heavens sake

Daban PGU update

Faze two fully completed now 🫶 I completed the shoulder guard frames last night and finished the head unit this afternoon

Since I'm close to putting the armour panels on now I'd like to give a retrospective of the build so far which is as follows

-----------------------------------------------------------

I think given this is a copy of the original bandai PGU daban have knocked it out the park in terms of replication of all the details you would find in the original kit.. I've found daban have almost what seems to me they have taken a 3d scan of the original bandai model and just made themselves identical molds for the runners you can definitely tell the daban model is made for production efficiency since alot of the time your gonna spend is mostly just cleaning up residual flash on parts (I've found the worse offenders being the gray colour runners or anything with a rubbery texture to the touch it seems to cut corners on production time they have left alot of the imperfections for the buyer to fix themselves which depending how you see it can either be a plus or a minus since you can either linger on that some of the parts aren't properly cleaned up from factory or you can use it as practice your trimming and cutting skills which can never hurt unless it's a blade to the finger I guess lol had that once or twice myself

The LED provided in the box is weak ill admit it does light up the chest unit but doesn't seem to do anything for the eyes in the head unit so I'll look around online to maybe see if there is a tutorial to fix this if not I'm happy to just leave it with the lights for now as they were never the main focus just a nice little bonus if it did work I haven't tried the beam saber in the backpack yet but I'll maybe set that up later this evening just to see if I can get it to light up the thrusters if not that's again something that can be addressed in the future

The frame itself is sterdy and got some nice details which would look amazing with a nice dry brush paint job although I imagine that requires the patience of a saint so massive nope from me as I'll be putting his armour on so all the under gubbins will be hidden away for the majority of the time all in all I'd say if you have the money but don't wish to sacrifice £300 to bandai just for a box with the offical logo and some proper quality control then daban is a good option and cheaper alternative with some great details and really nice gimmicks although just keep in mind you will have to currect alot of things yourself aswell as potentially supply your own LED kit if that's something you wanted

Faze three here we come🎉 I'll add his hands later too that seems to be something I always end up adding last for some odd reason EDIT - I didn't realise this at first but the polycap that goes into the head unit has a cover on the inside which I had to manually cut out before the eyes would light up with the LED provided although I'd still very much suggest something DIY or after market as it could be so much better

Cooking with gas 🤌 Daban PGU Rx78.2 nearly at faze three

Very proud with how this dude is turning out 👌I've added more to the torso area in terms of structural under armour aswell as assembled the backpack too (you may see some areas with whitening or stress) I'll admit this was me being part way impatient when cutting parts and because I was already storming ahead with the build I decided to skip being over the top with sanding and instead just carry on as like I've mentioned previously most of all this undersection will be covered up by two fazes of both truss supports aswell as finally the armour panels too

This evening I'll move on to building both arms aswell as the head unit then we move onto faze 3 of the development process

I think it's a really nice touch that they added metal thruster bells for the backpack too they blend it with the other blingy bits like the hydrolics and knee structures

The waist skirt is still yet to receive metal etch plates for the small vents but I figured to leave these out for now till we get to the armour section just incase so I don't loose those parts with them just hanging loose appose to sitting in the housing properly as intended so that's why you don't see these parts added just yet I'll be adding them later on down the line it's surreal to see my very first 1/60th scale start to take shape now even if it is a clone but I'm really enjoying the build process the core fighter block in his chest has been cemented into place and cured for 24hrs too depending how heavy his top section is after I've completed him ill try fit it by friction first but if it shows any signs of wobble or such then that too will be cemented into place as I don't intend to have him in his split gimmick I want him standing tall I trust this far more than say using the core fighter jet as I'd like to display that independently next to the final unit 🤌 chefs kiss daban you could work on cleaning your parts up but other than that I'll give you a soild 8.5/10 for now

HGCE Destory Gundam Complete ✅

Had an absolute blast putting this monster together he's massive

Had a discussion with my wife about display placement and seems this dude is getting his own dedicated spot in our collection since standing him among the rest of the squad is abit of a squeeze

Super happy to have got this guy when I could as he was on a massive discount too which was super nice

Looking to upgrade my raven eu17 gbb

So I've come across some posts online mentioning how this is a we clone of a TM clone so seems there is a lot of aftermarket support after all which I never know about I've been messing around with my gun over the weekend and had since figured it will accept the standard AAP-01 barrel and bucking too although the hop up spring needs some adjustment it does work and actually adds some range too

I'm just curious if I was to buy these few upgrades to go along with it would they happen to just be drop in parts with minimal effort or require more fine tuning than I expect

Also in regards to the mapleleaf housing unit does this come with a bucking or do I need to buy one of the 60°crazy jet or PDI hold separately 🤔

Last question - would it be viable to remove my stock trigger and replace it with the one from my old AAP-01 as I'll be honest I much prefer the feel and resistance of the aap trigger but if It won't fit then I don't really wanna go strip it for no reason so I'm just curious

HG Destory Gundam Wip

So I got this dude with the money I recouped off my PG Zaku kit which I sold as honestly opening that box was ptsd inducing seeing springs and screws and looking at the instructions with not a lick of English without Google translate on hand so not for me and I decided to get something else which was this dude

My local game shop had him on sale for £105 appose to £165 which honestly I couldn't complain about as I still had some money left over for some extra kits 🤙

Really enjoying the build so far he's cool as fuck I love the head gimmick too which makes him look like a turtle lol
