Am I completely insane or is everyone acting like H5N1 flat-out doesn’t exist?

This is regarding cats as dogs can apparently fend off bird flu just fine.

HPAI is extremely aggressive in cats and has a high mortality rate.

There isn’t a lot of definitive information about how prevalent avian flu is in current poultry populations but I keep seeing so much social media feeding cats raw birds as if it’s not a problem at all.

I understand that it’s monetized so they have a conflict of interest and choose not to address it/nix this content, but I find it really disingenuous that they will wax poetic about the nutritional positives and not even MENTION that it will likely kill your pet if they’re unlucky enough to contract it.

Not to mention all the raw companies putting up blanket covermyass disclaimers about how they thoroughly test each batch blah blah blah. Sure. Cats died on commercial raw in 2025 regardless of what your website says.

There’s obviously risk associated with anything raw/undercooked, but if the flu is still circulating in flocks at a high rate, with cats x bird flu the consequence is just not worth it.

I really really really want to feed raw poultry since my girl is extremely picky and doesn’t show enthusiasm for anything other than raw beef (and they need a meaty bone which would ideally be from a bird), but I just can’t get over the lack of information that I’d need to make an accurate risk assessment.

I’ll be trying a few things that eliminate the risk in the meantime: beef with Alnutrin but I do want to try poultry with her eventually, and gently cooked (although I doubt she will eat it if it’s cooked).

I guess I’m just frustrated that I can’t in good conscience give her food I’m fairly certain she would actually consistently like and would keep her at a healthier weight.

Anyone else? And for those of you raw feeding poultry to cats, how long have you been doing it, did you ever take a break, and are you doing it commercial or DIY?

Body Odor Elimination - Level: Expert

Hi,

My roommate is moving out and there is so much BO in the space it's unbearable. I have a very sensitive nose and genuinely did not know that it was possible for body odor to have such incredibly strong projection and sillage. It very quickly fills my large bedroom when her door is open. I could taste her BO in my food an hour after she'd left the area (waste of a ribeye).

Cross-ventilation in her room helps a little bit but unfortunately blows all the smell all over the rest of the apartment. I'm hoping that once her fabrics are all gone the smell will slowly dissipate, but we are trying to rent out the room and people are being turned off by the extreme smell. The very air reeks and to escape it I have to go into my bathroom which is not in the direct airflow from her room, where I can breathe in the sweet relief of wet cat food (I'm being dead serious, I would much prefer to smell cat food than whatever is going on in her room).

Things I've tried:

  1. vinegar in a bowl

  2. crossventilation + fan to increase airflow out

  3. OdoBan

  4. Febreze Unscented (fabric spray)

  5. vodka spray

The sprays I applied on all her fabrics multiple times over the course of hours (maybe 6-8 rounds total) and they helped a tiny little bit, but the smell still hangs in the air in the middle of the room like some foul onion indoor cloud miasma even when I spray Odoban right into it. I LOVE alliums and eat onions and garlic raw but I have stopped eating onions because my brain associates it with her smell.

I've also requested that she wash her clothes using vinegar and all that jazz but they still reek. I don't think she did as requested, but in any case she and her fabrics are going to be out of here soon. She put in a vanilla Febreze so now the hall smells like warm vanilla onion gas. The blinds did absorb some of the odors unfortunately. When she leaves, I will be scrubbing the walls and floors.

I am currently purchasing charcoal packets and will probably get Ozium in aerosol and gel form.

I've heard Ozium aerosol and even an ozone generator (last resort but I'm fully willing) are fantastic are getting rid of cigarette and weed smoke.

Does anyone else have any other suggestions?

Avoiding nose/throat burn when vaping?

Bought my first weed vape thing today. So far I don’t know if it’s not enough thc or if I’m not pulling enough.

This is more a question about the nose and inhalation technique since I know the throat is kind of unavoidable since it is vaporized smoke/the coil type and other stuff factors into how smooth the experience is.

Any tips for not having using a vape burn your nose?
