Nationality law regulations
When do you think the nationality law regulations will be published? And do you think they'll end up being relatively strict or more lenient for people in our situation?

I'm moving to Belgium on the basis of EU family member (Art. 40bis). I work through my own LLC and take quarterly distributions ranging from about €7,000 to €20,000. As a member of the LLC I issue these distributions myself, and I can provide 6 months of bank history plus the distribution receipts.
My last personal tax return showed around €60,000 for the year.
For those who've been through this: do you think the tax return + bank statements + distribution receipts are enough to satisfy the proof-of-support requirement for the F card? Anything else the commune/DVZ tends to ask for in this kind of self-employed situation?
Thanks in advance.
Good day!
We are currently in the process of moving to Belgium, but it has been extremely difficult to rent an apartment while still living abroad.
Because of this, I am wondering whether buying a property might be a better option (I have the cash, no bank financing needed). The main reason I have been hesitant to buy is that I am not yet very familiar with the different neighborhoods and towns in Belgium. I have only visited twice, and I would not want to end up tied to a property in an area that does not suit our family.
If we do eventually decide to buy, could you recommend any towns that are good for family living, not too quiet or boring, and have good train connections?
I would really appreciate your advice.
My family and I have been living in Portugal for a couple of years. Now that the nationality law has passed, we feel the far right has been given a lot of room to push further restrictions, and we’re worried they may continue making life harder for immigrants.
AIMA has already been a nightmare for us, especially when it comes to renewals. Other bureaucratic processes haven’t been as bad, but immigration-related issues have been extremely stressful.
Because of this, we’re considering moving to Germany. At the same time, we would prefer to stay in Portugal if we could realistically secure permanent residence for the whole family and feel confident that the nationality law won’t change again in a few years for the worse.
For those following this closely: do you think the immigration system in Portugal could improve and we'd be able to get a PR? Is there a chance processing times will go down now that IRN may have 5–6 years to catch up on the backlog?
Or forming a coalition?
Hi everyone!
I'm a non EU parent applying for family reunification (Art. 40bis) based on my child who is an EU citizen. I'm self-employed and wanted to ask whether my income would qualify as proof of stable, sufficient means of subsistence.
My situation: I take income from my own LLC as quarterly distributions of roughly €20k per quarter (about €80k/year). It's not a regular monthly salary, so I'm not sure how the communes assess this kind of income structure.
Has anyone gone through Art. 40bis with self-employed or non-standard income? Did quarterly/irregular income cause any issues, and what documents did the commune ask for to prove it?
Thanks in advance!
We're a family moving to Belgium (Flanders) and would like to connect with a realtor to help us find an apartment or house.
Thank you
