Withdrawing from previously committed schools

Basically the title. I got into NYU a while ago and ofc had to deposit, but I got into another school and now i have to withdraw. Not to ask stupid questions, but at what point should I withdraw from NYU, AND my current university? I already deposited to my new school, but I’m paranoid of withdrawing before anythings confirmed and somehow being left with 0 schools, and I also don’t know if there’s some penalty to not withdrawing right away.

I accepted it, deposited the fee to my new school, registered for housing, saw my fin aid awards, though I don’t know if I officially accepted the offer, but if not I will. But can anyone tell me if this is about the same time that you withdrew from your schools? Because I’m going to, just not sure if I’m supposed to wait for something.

American gothic english class

Specifically talking about "A Haunted House Divided: The American Gothic Tradition in Nineteenth-Century Literature" . Anyone know if they're gonna continue it next year? I really wanted to take any class about this subject. But if anyone knows of similar english/lit/history classes like this let me know!

i missed the housing cancellation deadline

I'm transferring out and i didn't realize the deadline to cancel housing was at 5pm on Friday. I did cancel on Friday, but two hours late. Am i being nitpicky or is this seriously gonna hurt me? I'm really stressing about it and to add onto it I don't even know what the consequence is for being late

emailing my rec writers

I just finished my first year at university, throughout which I was filling out applications to transfer to a different one, and I finally got into the one I really wanted yesterday. I already thanked my professors who wrote my rec letters back when I finished applying, but I wanna write to them again to tell them that yk it paid off and thanks again, but I was wondering how to put it in a good way. I didn’t wanna be like, thanks for helping me get into this AMAZING school and LEAVE the one you work at, because obviously I won’t say that and there’s more I wanna get across (thank them for everything they taught me, hope I can visit again in the future, etc.), and they know my reasons for transferring were valid, but given the specific school I’m transferring to it feels kinda unavoidable to be awkward.

For profs who have written recs for transfer and maybe have received emails, what did those emails say that you appreciated? And conversely what do you not wanna see?

Thanks for any help, I hope this is the right sub for this

how should i send an email to my rec writers?

I got into a school i wanted and I wanna email my professors who wrote my recs to tell them the good news and thank them again, cause otherwise im assuming they’ll think it didnt work out. But I don’t know if it’s a bit rude to be like, thanks for writing my letter, im headed to this BETTER school and LEAVING the one you work at. obviously im not gonna put it like that, theres also some other stuff I wanna say, but to anyone who has done this or plans on doing this, what are you guys gonna say to your rec writers?

how safe is it to share essays and smaller supps?

I remember when I was writing mine I was so frustrated that there werent any accessible, recent examples and so I was considering sharing mine in DMs to people if they asked. Is this safe? I’ve already gotten accepted so I don’t think I’ll get charged for plagiarism, but is there anything I should be considering?

I’m gonna be coming in as a politics major next semester, and so far without AP credits (which should give me 8-16 credits) my credit transfer was estimated around 22-32. NYU doesnt accept the pre reqs i already took so im taking those next sem, but this late in the game i was wondering how difficult it’d be to pick up a double major in econ. My reasoning is I really want a job and I’m scared politics will not give me one. Has anyone successfully double majored as a transfer when previously having just one major? I absolutely need to graduate on time

I’m a beginner to fasting, in the past the most I could ever do was 2.5 days before I cracked, and while I haven’t done it in a while (getting back into it) I remember the reason I would always end my fast is cause I had some test coming up or because I knew “I was already gonna have a hard day, so why add hunger to it?” I’m trying to get over this mindset so I can extend my fasts, but how? And I see people on here who do fasts for so long that it’s impossible that they would’ve had nothing important going on in the meantime, so is it true that fasting makes anything like sedentary mental work more difficult? I’m still a college student so I’m worried I’m gonna do the whole “but i have a test!” song and dance again, since they always tell you to eat before those.

Any advice?

It showed my parents' 1040 as incomplete for a while but all the other schools just accepted it so i figured that like for many others it was an error. I come back to check and there's an X next to it because it isn't signed. Assuming I get in, will they consider me for financial aid since they literally have the document, and all I need to do is have it signed? Follow up, is it even worth asking in advance since decisions might come out today?

did any of you guys also get an email from your major's department with a link to a petition form to get transfer credit? I opened it and it just never works on any browser, and I made sure I was signed in on nyu account all. curious if anyone else is seeing the same thing, or if someone could link an actual link for the form to me. thanks!

I got sent an email from the politics department telling me what classes I should take and linking a petition form for me to fill out to get elective credit, as well as advising me to email professors with my syllabus from classes I took this year that I would've taken as pre reqs if I went to NYU for my first year. However the petition link doesn't work.

Just wondering if this has happened to anyone else or if it's just me, and also if anyone has the link. But also! If anyone has also been a transfer student into the politics department, please let me know if I can reach out to you! I'd like to find out which classes I should take, and if the whole emailing thing to professors with class syllabi really works, and if you found you were/are able to complete your degree on time.

Thanks!
