Can’t pay for my uni tuition, my parents won’t help me

Hello everyone,

I (F, 21) have recently finished uni in the UK and I passed all my exams which means that I will be graduating in September! Great, right? Except for the fact that I have received an email from my uni’s income office saying that my tuition hasn’t been fully paid and that there was £6825 left to pay. They told me that if I don’t pay urgently I will not be graduating.

This uni costs £13.500 a year and I am so worried that these 3 years led up to nothing. The deal with my parents was that they paid the tuition and I paid my rent, expenses and groceries, which I have done.

My parents are divorcing so all of their accounts are frozen until the divorce is final and the house is sold. So, they’re saying they just can’t pay my tuition.
When I asked about the money to my mom she said I should sell stuff because she won’t be able to cover it. Mind you I don’t have anything expensive to sell, all of my clothes are thrifted and don’t have much value.
And my dad says that his company is not doing well financially, that he doesn’t even pay himself a salary so he can’t help me. How f up is that?
Obviously I don’t have that kind of money either..

I have explained the situation and asked my uni for a payment plan or anything that could give me time to pay while still graduating in September but they told me no, that there was nothing they could do and that I just needed to pay.

I am an international student and there’s nothing in my birth country that can help me pay for this. I already have a student loan to pay so I can’t get any more loans.

I guess my question is, does anyone know if there’s something I could do about this situation? I really need help.

landlord asks for £150 for rubbish removal.

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for some advice on a situation I'm currently in with my landlord after moving out of a flat in the UK.

I don’t know if i’m crazy or if this is normal here (i’m not from the uk) but I've been in a back-and-forth about rubbish disposal costs and feel like £75 per person (from our deposit) is unreasonable.

on the screenshot you’ll see my landlord in blue/green and my flatmate in white ish.

My flatmate and I moved out of a flat after living there for 2 years. Our landlord was always very kind understanding and helpful so this is really coming out of nowhere. He even thanked us for being great tenants.

There was a bin outside that was full because for some reason they stopped collecting our bins two weeks before moving out. There was a bank holiday so we thought nothing of it and thought they would get everything the following week, which did not happen..

After cleaning out the flat we had 8-10 bags of rubbish we wanted to get rid of but since the bins were full, it wouldn’t fit inside.

Before leaving, I asked the landlord if I could take the rubbish away myself. He insisted I leave it there and told me not to worry about it.

We spent multiple days cleaning the flat and wanted to leave it in perfect condition.

The council didn't collect the bin, so the landlord had to arrange private removal.

He's now asking for £75 per person from our deposits to cover the cost of removing the bags and the bin.

What do you think? is £150 a fair price for removing rubbish bags?

Also this is my first reddit post so if I did something wrong, please tell me about it and I’ll edit the post!! xx
