Leica M6 shutter won't release when film is loaded (works fine empty) – Tulip / take-up spool slips back slightly
Hi everyone,
I recently bought a used Leica M6. Without film, everything works as expected: the advance stroke is smooth and the shutter fires at all speeds.
However, as soon as Iload a roll of film, the shutter button won't release. When checking the advance cycle with the door open/front removed, the advance lever completes its throw, but under the tension of the film, the take-up tulip slips back just a tiny bit. This slight backlash seems to prevent the shutter release mechanism from completing its latch.
(Attached is a video showing the behavior).
Has anyone encountered this specific issue? Is this usually a worn friction clutch, a loose retaining ring/washer under the rewind crank, or an anti-reverse ratchet that needs adjustment?
Thanks for your help!
